New York, NY – On the heels of his refusal to appear at Monday’s much ballyhooed gala announcing plans to overhaul La Guardia Airport alongside New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Vice-President Joe Biden, NYPOST.com (http://bit.ly/1I1i7LN) columnist Michael Goodwin has unleashed a scathing op-ed aimed at New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, referring to him as a “putz” and telling him to “grow up.”

Most egregious, according to the POST’s Michael Goodwin, is De Blasio’s official explanation for his no-show at the event, that being that, “He only goes to events where he’s invited to speak.”
Quoting how New York Yankee legend Yogi Berra might have advised de Blasio in such a situation, Goodwin proposes that Berra would have had two words for the Mayor; “Grow up!”
Citing de Blasio’s ongoing “feuds” with just about everyone in the city and state, Goodwin states that “Mayor Putz” has become preoccupied with his image outside the city, traveling to give “middling speeches” while neglecting his duties at home.
“He’s missing in action here too often,” Goodwin states, “yet still acts as if winning the election was a blank check and that when he speaks, the waves should part. When they don’t, he throws a fit.”
“De Blasio pouts from afar because he wasn’t invited to speak,” Goodwin says of the mayor’s absence from the event announcing plans that “will create tens of thousands of jobs and reshape the city.”
“Wrack your brain, but you can’t name another mayor who would have behaved that way,” The Post poses.
this is hardly de blasios biggest issue, his softness on crime is number 1.
It is embarrassing to have such a childish mayor! Let’s hope the democrats can find someone to beat him in a primary.
Wilhelm has resigned himself that he’s a one termer, so he’d just going to do what he wants and ignore everything else. Provided Cuomo is around in two years, the governor as head of the party in NYS, will not permit deBlasio to win the next Democratic primary for mayor. Thus, like Abe Beame before him he will disappear into infamy leaving a mess that will take decades to clean up. The true scandal in all this is that the Republican party has was unable to come up with a credible candidate the last time. It’s been proven for the last 20 years that you don’t have to be a Democrat to win citywide office.
Mayor deBozo is also a fitting name to this putz.

For any city, it’s very disrespectful to its voters to have such an event without allowing its appropriate city leader to speak. Doing so undercuts home rule, and sends a message that city elections don’t matter – decisions for the city will be made in Albany and in Washington.
It seems to me that this column by Michael Goodwin acts against the interests of city residents.
the LaGuardia plan is terrible- only 2 outdated runways that are unusable by today’s planes this is what a pilot said:As a retired airline pilot, I can tell you that the layout of La Guardia’s runways is incompatible with modern aviation practices.
They were built for a past era of slower, piston aircraft and for a lighter traffic load.Although it has 2 runways, they intersect which means they cannot be used independently but arrivals/departures must be synchronized.
Modern airports have parallel runways.
Almost any weather condition other than CAVOK will begin to slow La Guardia flight operations down resulting in delays.
This happens almost daily.
The sad truth is Coumos plan is simply expensive lipstick on a pig.
La Guardia should be closed down and sited elsewhere.
