Shlissel perpetrated a similar stabbing attack at the 2005 Jerusalem gay pride parade. He was recently released from prison after having been convicted of stabbing three people during the parade ten years ago.

According to a report by Jerusalem Post sister paper Maariv on Thursday, assailant Shlissel published a handwritten letter the week before the parade, saying that “it is the obligation of every Jew to keep his soul from punishment and stop this giant desecration of God’s name next Thursday.”

Shlissel said in the letter that the parades were happening “Because of our enormous sins.”

“Once again, the evildoers want to have a parade of sin and of all places, in Jerusalem — city of the king of kings blessed be he — in order to defile its holiness and desecrate its holy name on Thursday,” he wrote. “They are always looking for ways to desecrate God’s name even more.”

He said that the gay pride parades happening around the world were tests from God to see how faithful people are “and if it matters to us if His name is desecrated so greatly, or if each person is only worried about himself.”

“It is [an obligation] on all the religions to come together and stop this event.”

Making the letter even stranger was a blessing for all Jews to become become spiritually reawakened “in complete unity.”

We as frum Jews must not blame the attacker but the government for allowing such an abomination to march. If nazis with swasticas marched in tel aviv and someone stabbed them would people be upset with the stabbed or the government that allowed them to march. The attacker was a good Jew who cared more about israel than any Jew living there. Who knows maybe the six torah hating marchers he stabbed will prevent six million Jews in israel from getting nuked by Iran. Who knows.

“It is the obligation of every Jew to keep his soul from punishment and stop this giant desecration of G-d’s name.”

    Who could disagree with that?

I am not sure we are obligated to perform the act that Yishai Shlissel did, just as I am not sure to what extent Pinchas was obligated to do what he did, but we are obligated to do whatever we can, short of acts of kanous, to stop these perverts everywhere, how much more so in yir hakodesh.

So if we don’t like someone we can stab them, it says so in the Holy Books. So much for yiddishkeit.Full of hate apparently.

No Jew can deny that the parade is a tremendous chillul Hashem. Openly defying and mocking at the Torah as they defile the holiest city with their tumah is a disgrace of the highest order and a desecration of Hashem’s name. The Israeli government should bury their heads in shame as non-Jews look on scoffing at Israel. The stabbing was an act of zealotry like Pinchas (who merited the kehunah because of it).

The Arabs would not allow such an abomination parade in jerusalem. The government is out to destroy torah Judaism. They just locked up a yeshiva boy for missing his draft call to the draft board. But they are sending home hundreds of seasoned soldiers plus cutting a hundred thousand resevere troops out but will spend twice as much to draft chareidim. Why. To destroy their beliefs in Torah or at least weaken them. How can this idiot prime minister support the gays and just today the other knited kippah Bennett is offering money to advance the homosexual rights. No wonder these two imbeciles could not stop their own Supreme Court from knocking down yesterday’s two buildings of 24 apartments. If he can’t stop his own Supreme Court how can he stop Americas congress from supporting Iran nukes. Shame on this evil government who spits on G-ds land with homo parades.

Some of the people stabbed where not in the parade but watching it.

Can one do whatever you want or do you to go to a Besdin before sentencing someone to be killed?

What is said even about a Besdin that sentences someone to death?

the parade is provocation, simple and pure. These perverts who come to the holy city to spread their disgusting perversion are provoking an attack simple and clear.

Let them spread AIDS some where other than the holy city.

The city hall of Jerusalem is also to blame for this perversion and provocation.

There are a number of ex chassid and otd commentators here who are always trying to distort authentic Judaism with their assimilated ideas. I recommend you guys read rabbi Avigdr millers books. In fact he has some in yiddish that just came out. Make no mistake the gays are our enemies just as the atheists and evolutionists are. We the real Jews will not bend in face of today’s atheistic western societies. We will continue to support true Judaism. The fellow who stood up in jerusalem is today’s modern day Pinchus. Make no mistake about it. One day when we chareidim become the majority this hero will be free and be given the position of educational minister. You guys can laugh. But just as mandella became president of South Africa so will yishai Shlishel become aleader of our people. Even the Arabs who I spoke to respect this great Jew. Wake up you sleepy ones and become a real Yid .

They should lock this lunatic up in a mental hospital & throw away the “Shlissel.”

THIS will bring the Geula? Or Ahavat Yisrael? I don’t care if the toiva people were marching naked down Derech Hevron, there is no justification for these actions. I find it more horrifying that religious people can support this crazy guy’s actions than even the stabbing itself. My philosophy is, if the parade offends you, stay away. But the govt will not stop it, just like they won’t stop NK from joining anti-Israel protests. So get over it, move on, & “commit” acts of Ahava instead of Sinah to fellow Jews.

the comparison to pinchos is simplistic.pinchas asked Moshe if the halacha was correct that “kanaim pogim bo) .a kanai is only allowed to operate in the framework of halacha.it does not mean you can kill if someone marches in a disgusting parade because you are offended.

No Rav would ever say that it is OK to stab people like this. This lunatic will be locked up. He should be.

If you disagree with the parade, hold a counter protest. But physical violence has no place.

This man was fighting against infidels. He was engaged in Jewish jihad.

I’m surprised that there isn’t a mesivta in Karachi.
