Brooklyn, NY - Organization Urges Candidates to Keep Jewish Issues Out of Election |
|
Candidates seem to feel that they are helping the Jewish people by promising to further what they believe to be the Jews' interests at every opportunity. However, the exact opposite is the truth.
"When only the Jews, out of all the nationalities and ethnic groups among American voters, are mentioned numerous times, it lends credence to the old anti-Semitic canard that Jews have their own agenda at heart and are disloyal to their country," said Leo Greenbaum of Jewish Response.
"The candidates would do us the biggest service by simply not mentioning Jews at all. Then people would get the message that Jews are just like all Americans and want whatever is best for America. "In times past," he continued, "anti-Semitic politicians used the scapegoating of the Jews as a tool to boost their popularity. Today's candidates are pro-Jewish, and they use their special attention to the Jews as a tool to boost their popularity. But, ironically, their over-emphasis on Jews is bad for the Jews. Jews are very loyal American citizens and don't deserve to be singled out like this."
Jewish Response contends that although the dark ages of hatred and persecution are gone, the idea of using the Jews has unfortunately remained a standard feature of politics. It's time for the world to move on and realize that singling out Jews for any reason, good or bad, brings back to life the old accusations from which Jews have always suffered.

It's all about Florida where the Jewish population will determine the outcome of 27 electoral votes.

Florida wouldn't have mattered if Al Gore would have carried his own state. Only losers can't carry their own state. Even Mondale, when he was shellacked by Reagan, carried Minnesota. It was the only state he won, plus Washington DC. But he carried his own state!
Anyway, I think the principle of this is important. I don't want Jewish support to be the litmus test for politicians. I am an American. I care about this country, which was founded for religious freedom, liberty, etc.. Many poltiicans will support Israel and Jewish causes for many reasons. Some because of religious reasons, Jews need to control the land in order for their messiah to return (not Barack Obama). Others support Israel for being a democracy. Some want to support Jews for their contributions to society.
If I am going to obsess with Jewish issues, I'll make aliyah. Then I can deal with corrupt Jewish politcians.
I think the media instigates this

i just went to the website. it was started 3 days ago. it mentions how they will be getting gedolim to d this and that. they obviously dont realize that no one associated with the agudah moetzes, ncyi board of rabbis or ou will back this farce. they depend on the funding from these elected officials.
i think this was a poor attempt to get publicity for their site. leo greenbaum has decided to publicaly make a machoh, which now is on many news wires, and has been picked up by yahoo news.
leo, your a fool, you only see the pro jewish stuff because you live in jewish parts of brooklyn. if you went to bushwick, it would be about blacks and hispanics. into bensonhurst, russian. if you would go to astoria in queens, you may hear things that on the minds of the local chinese immigrants.
country wide: if you went to southern miami you would hear pro cuban-american things from politicians. in the midwest it will be all bible thumping type speaches. see, politicians talk to the crowd in front of them, live with it. go get a real job, and leave our ohavy yisroel alone, or they may go away.

Did anybody hear Barney Frank start hocking a tsheinik about the days of awe and his efforts with Rahm Emannuel...? Jerk! When Anti Semitic sentiments are way up, because of the Wall Street meltdown, keep Judaism out of your gutter politics. Keep yiddishkeit in practice, not as a political tool that is actually doing a huge disservice to us.

A certain [Anglo-] Jewish newspaper would say about your picture that a person with pupils (at least one) of such shape and color walked in to an Ophthalmologist's (or Editor's) office on Third Avenue in B------! Like we saw the Sun (the real Sun) was shining over the Hudson (or East) River in the shape of a Star of David! (Further proof that Hashem loves us) Or was it through the filter of the Photographer's lens! (Anyway, Hashem still loves us)!!!

This is Bogus speaks TRUE stuff @ this time! I agree with your analysis 100%! This is what American Politics is ALL about. Politicians will tell the [specific] audience what pleases their ears! But there is some truth to what they say and promise!
