BDE. Driving a car in Eretz Yisroel is very hazardous. The cars are small, the highways are shared with big trucks and Israelis are not the most patient drivers. I had a rental car in EY back in 2007 and it was a hair-raising experience.

Unfortunately drivers in Israel, due to its culture of post war mentality, psychological has an effect on its drivers, although less for women who are more cautious and patient drivers than their male counterpart.
This “freedom of the road” post war stress mentality leads to road rage, beeping before light turns green, and other bad road habits due to impatience. However all in all israelis are excellent drivers, and the main reason why the accident rate statistically is high is mainly due to the configuration of the roads, and over abundance of cars which inevitably breeds accidents when these two factors are present in any society.
