Lake Kiamesha, NY - Two youths, ages seven and 14, have been arrested by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office and charged with setting a bungalow on fire in Lake Kiamesha.

On Wednesday, October 1 at 4:40 a.m., the Monticello Fire Department fought a structure fire at the Lakeside Village bungalow colony on Concord Road in the Town of Thompson. It took firefighters over two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Sullivan County Bureau of Fire inspectors at the scene determined the fire was intentionally set.

Sheriff Michael Schiff said after investigation, eye witness accounts and from evidence at the scene, officers identified the youths as suspects. Both were charged with felony arson in the third degree and burglary in the third degree.

They were released to the custody of their parents pending a future appearance in Family Court.

Their names will not be made public because of their ages.
