Jerusalem - A 40 year-old Haredi man was remanded on Sunday following reports by witnesses that he approached and spat on a teenage girl wearing pants while she was walking with her family.

YNETNEWS.com (http://bit.ly/1Pk2W2b) reports that Yosef Chaim Jabali was ordered held until late Monday by a Jerusalem Magistrate Court judge on a suspicion of assault charge stemming from the incident.

According to witnesses, Jabali took offense to the 15 year-old girl’s immodest dress and spat on her just outside a Strauss St. clinic near the Haredi neighborhoods of Jerusalem.

Relatives of the girl contacted police who a short time later apprehended Jabali, despite an attempted escape.

Police requested that the suspect be remanded until Wednesday, but the judge ordered a 6 p.m. Monday release provided Jabali adheres to court ordered restrictions and agrees to show up for questioning.

I (a charedi) was spit upon in yerushalayim by a secular truck driver. I strongly suspect it had something to do with the obviously charedi garb I was wearing. I can just imagine reporting that to the mishtara. and get another few mouthfuls to boot!

The authorities are going to have to get tough with these animals, who not only harass women, but also attack IDF soldiers, as well as motorists. They are no different than the religious police in Saudi Arabia, or the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Ah, ok. So that makes it OK then to do that to a secular girl, right? Makes sense to me.

You're not the only one. Many such cases are silenced by the police and media. Only the few cases of chareidi spitting on chilonim that get reported.

It doesn't make it OK, but it doesn't make sense to single out singular cases to taint a whole society when there are reverse cases that are simply swept under the rug.

Are you possibly suggesting that two wrongs do make a right? Being malbim someone b'rabbim is an extremely serious lav. Who gave this animal permission to insult a woman (probably less than 20 years old) whose pants probably left much more to the imagination than the tight dresses seen at many so-called frum simchas? He should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, even if he doesn't recognize its jurisdiction.

Then it needs to be reported. No one should be spit upon, for any reason. Period.

It's perfectly fine for Jews in Eretz Yisroel to violate every issur of the Torah, in the Palace of the King, but if a Jew shows that he objects, then HE gets arrested. That's the "jewish" state for you.

So you are justifying and rationalizing a Chasidic Adult Male spitting on a girl. Feh!

It's not isolated and singular cases. It's a wide spread pattern we hear about almost daily.

So you think spitting on a teenage girl is a reasonable objection? That speaks volumes about you.

What a dumb comment "Yossi", this is how you were taught to object by spitting on little girls? Nebech on you.

He can object in other ways than spitting on someone. Or maybe try to be m'kareiv with ahavas chinam instead of lashing out.

I would tend to imagine that you are a 15 yr old girl. While I am not commending the truck drivers behavior. Its a far greater crime when its done to a 15 yr old girl than a mature adult.

A girl or woman (or even whatever a jerk like you is married to) in EY can wear whatever she wants wherever she wants and anyone who assaults her should be jailed and charged. Your warped theories of tzinius arguably entitle you to abuse women in your own family if they willingly submit but certainly give you zero rights to abuse others. Its simple. We can only wish for you what you wish for others.

That's exactly right: if he "shows that he objects" by spitting on a person, that's assault, and he should be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

And it apparently is a surprise to you that Israel is NOT a Jewish state, but a civil one, and civil laws rule the country, not halacha. If a Jew in Israel chooses to violate every issur in the Torah, you have no standing or power to punish or attack that person, and if you do, you are the criminal, and should be treated as such.

There are so many injustices in the world and especially in Israel, visa a vi the religious non religious, or the Arab and Jews, or just normal and the gays, that we must work hard to be normal, but one should know that this article comes from Ynet, a very anti religious news site.

If there is one INJUSTICE not reported on, it is the perverted anti-Jewish, anti-religious and anti-Bibi slant of Ynet, who instead of reporting news, prefer to print anything they can that is anti-Jewish, anti-religious and anti-Bibi.

We should complain to high heaven and protest Ynet's discrimination policies and be much aware that anything from Ynet is slanted against the religious, the traditional Jewish values and Bibi.

You're so right!

those terrible people at YNET made up this assault and arrest only to make Jews look bad.

How was this slanted against the religious or the Jewish or, as you write, against Bibi?

Agreed and there are too many of those around. Also, I've seen woman's pants that are more Tznius than some "Frum" womens dresses. Go to Boro Park and you'll see what I mean.

All these morons do is turn people off of Yiddishkeit. If I was the girl's father, I wouldn't have called the police, just an ambulance for the moron.

The girl who was spat upon is my sister, and I am outraged! The man who spit on the girl is my brother and I am saddened. Perhaps if these antagonists were to realize how closely related they are to each other, they would each avoid engaging in behavior offensive to one another.

# 25 And you seem to like the idea that Medinath Yisroel threw away the yoke of torah..so with what rights do they have a claim against the arabs?

Dovid hamelech states in psalms and its also mentioned numerous times thru out the torah and tenach 'vayiten lohem nachlas goyim BAVIR YISHMERU CHIKOSAY VETOROSAY' Without observing the torah the Jews HAVE NO CLAIM TO THE LAND
In devorim: 'vatukutz huaretz oisom', and the land will spit them out (if they abandon my torah)
