New York – Authorities say a toddler is in serious condition following an early morning fire in Brooklyn.

Police say the blaze erupted shortly after 1 a.m. Monday in a 2-story house on Avenue P in the Marine Park section.
It was brought under control about 30 minutes later.
The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital. There were no other injuries.
The fire is under investigation.
