New York, NY – Records Show New York City Losing Millions In Unpaid Parking Tickets Issued To Out-Of-State Drivers

New York, NY – Records show that New York City is losing millions of dollars in unpaid parking summonses issued to out-of-state scofflaws who, it appears, are simply masters at avoiding detection while heaping the financial burden back onto the shoulders of local city residents.

NYDAILYNEWS.com (http://bit.ly/1NIWWTk) reports that through a Freedom of Information Law request, records show that agents for the city wrote $182M in fines to out-of-state drivers so far in 2015, but due to limitations imposed by other states with regard to collection procedures as much as 20% of that total has not, and likely will not, be collected.

Glen Bolofsky, who founded and operates Parkingticket.com, said, “Finance goes the extra mile to enforce nebulous regulations against New Yorkers while impotent to collect against real lawbreakers from out of state.”

One such scofflaw is Simon Gluck, a Montreal, Canada resident who records show is operating a fleet of at least 41 leased or rented vehicles in the city and who has amassed an unpaid parking ticket tab of $118,878 on 870 tickets over the past five years.

In an attempt to locate Gluck, a Daily News reporter traveled to the Montreal address on record with the city only to be told that its inhabitants never heard of Mr. Gluck.

Undeterred, a Daily News reporter approached a man entering a car registered to Mr. Gluck bearing Montreal plates and parked in front of a Borough Park address that has been issued 73 parking tickets over the past five years.

“What is a parking ticket? Why is it illegal?” the man questioned, before dialing up Jewish Shomrim patrol to report that he was being harassed.

The Shomrim should then have called NYPD to arrest this scofflaw who was allegedly using a phony Montreal address to get a license plate. Obviously an illegal immigrant…

Please explain “Losing Millions”. I get that they failed to procure the funds. But what was actually lost? Blocking a hydrant should not be done, just in case it’s needed. But it otherwise costs no one anything. Same for meters and alternate sides. Streets are filthy, even after the sweepers pass. No real loss. Unless we consider the parking fines our obligation. If out of state drivers don’t pay, NYC doesn’t lose, just fails to profit. Tough.

alternate side is the biggest scam. the streets are cleaner in marine park where they don’t even have it. the whole thing should be done away with.

Why doesn’t the city put a “boot” on such scofflaw cars, or tow them away and put them up for auction if the owner fails to pay?

So there are $182,000,000 of parking tickets written to out of state people (the number is mind boggling) and this fardorbene writer decides to look specifically at an address in Boro Park? With a minute amount of that total?

Really not surprising considering the way he writes his reports. He enjoys fanning the flames of anti semites.
