Spring Valley, NY - A Jewish congregation that was allowed to start enlarging a single-family home then later denied a special permit to continue the project has filed a federal lawsuit seeking $1 million against Mayor George Darden and three village board trustees, as well as an additional $5 million in punitive damages against Darden individually.

The suit, filed earlier in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in White Plains, said the village's wrongful acts violated Congregation Kolel B'nei Brak's civil rights, calling the permit denials "arbitrary, capricious and retaliatory actions of the mayor and the village board."

The court papers said the village denied the special permit in order to retaliate against the congregation for having previously declined to give Spring Valley an easement on another congregation property.

The congregation is being represented by the law firm of Paul Savad and Associates.

BS: Spring Valley is too good to any Jewish cause. This is a long and complicated case; A few private investors using the cong. are upset, because the village did not give them the $$ they wanted, to allow the village to use their land to fix a waterway, which often floods the neighborhood. The village then moved in and did the work with eminent domain, but the delay only caused massive delays and damage to the tens of Jewish families living in that area.

Shame on them for now using the false religious pretext, when everyone knows it is FALSE!
