Brooklyn, NY – District Attorney Ken Thompson came down hard on a Brooklyn man in the vicious rape of an elderly woman in July, leveling further charges at him in a second arraignment Friday, bringing the total number of counts in the case up to over fifty.

As previously reported on VIN News, the Brighton Beach Orthodox Jewish resident was brutally raped and assaulted over a period of several hours.
Police later arrested 18 year old Asa Robert in the attack. Among the charges listed at yesterday’s arraignment were two counts of predatory sexual assault, rape in the first degree, criminal sexual act in the first degree and multiple charges of burglary, assault, robbery, strangulation, sexual abuse, unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, petit larceny, criminal trespass and criminal possession of stolen property. Each of the two counts of predatory sexual assault carries with it a maximum sentence 25 years to life.
City Councilman Chaim Deutsch, who remains in contact with victim and her family, said that the 82 year old victim has not recovered from her attack and he asked for people to continue davening for Leah Sara bas Shaina Esther.
“She is not doing well mentally and not doing well physically,” Deutsch told VIN News.
In a statement released, Deutsch commended Thompson for “throwing the book” at Robert, something that he hoped would act as a strong deterrent to would be criminals.
“DA Thompson’s office has assured me that they are making every effort to fast track this trial and they will not be accepting any plea bargain.”
