Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and Labor leader Issac Herzog were also in attendance. Also attending the ceremony are Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi David Lau and former Shas MK and Yachad-Ha’am Itanu head Eli Yishai.
Bennett, along with Rabbi Nehemia Lavi, were murdered in a stabbing attack from a Palestinian Arab terrorist in Jerusalem’s Old City on Saturday night.
The same attack injured his wife and son; his infant daughter miraculously escaped unscathed.
Lavi was murdered in that attack when he ran out of his home to help Bennett; he was laid to rest at noon Sunday in the same cemetery. Israeli leaders hailed him as a hero for his actions.
Despite being an IDF soldier, Bennett will be buried in the cemetery’s civilian section, at the request of his wife, Adelle Banita. IDF soldiers are accompanying Bennett throughout the funeral ceremony, however.
Rabbi David Lau eulogized Bennett adding a prayer that G-d see the family’s suffering and that it arouse His mercy vis-a-vis the Jewish people.
Bde. Is there a gag order for these attacks?? Where is the press and outrage?!
awful!!!! bibi with his big words in the UN. zero courage. zero backbone. it’s a joke when Israelis proudly claim never again, now we can protect ourselves. A very sad joke. You need people with backbone in control not big fancy talkers.
I think Aron is from the Bineth family of Montreal, Belzer chassidim who have been operating a very fine kosher bakery there for decades. Many people know this family but the transliteration of the Hebrew בינעטה is producing variations of the name in the news releases.
Once again it’s on,y the Jerusalem list reporting this story! Where are the pro-Arab AP and reuters???
Israelis…strengthen the weak government of Israel or topple it!
