De Blasio spokeswoman Karen Hinton said Tuesday the Democratic mayor met with the Vermont U.S. senator in New York last month. She won’t disclose what they discussed.

De Blasio was Clinton’s campaign manager in her successful 2000 U.S. Senate race and has close ties to her and former President Bill Clinton. But he hasn’t offered an endorsement in the current presidential race.

De Blasio advocates liberal causes and has said repeatedly he wants to hear more from the presidential candidates on the issues before he offers his blessing.

He’s organizing a forum for presidential candidates next month in Iowa. It’s unclear which candidates may attend.
