    Obama says public officials must be more sensitive about how they handle information and personal data. Yet he also says criticism has been “ginned up” because of politics.

    Government probes of Clinton’s use of email and the security of her system are ongoing.

    Obama plays down the national security threat. The president says he didn’t get the impression anyone intended to “hide something or to squirrel away information.” And he says he was not aware initially of her use of the private email server.
