78 year old Chaim Chaviv was murdered this morning as two armed terrorists, carrying a grenade, a knife and guns boarded a bus in Armon Hanatziv at approximately 10:15 AM and began shooting and stabbing travelers. The bus driver opened the bus’s doors in an attempt to let passengers escape the bloody attack, but as reported by Israel National News, one of the terrorists raced back to the driver’s seat, locking the doors before continuing on a bloody rampage.

Both border police and a police patrol car arrived on scene and fired at the two terrorists. 23 year old Baha Alian, a Fatah terrorist, was shot and killed by police. The second attacker, a known member of Hamas who has previously served time, was wounded and taken into custody by Israeli police. Both lived in Jabel Mukaber in eastern Jerusalem.

Haviv’s wife Shoshana was also wounded in the attack and remains hospitalized at Shaare Tzedek Medical Center. The couple lived in Armon Hanatziv and have five children and 14 grandchildren.

“Chaviv was a simple, straightforward man who lived his life trying to be close with everyone,” said a nephew. “From the day he moved to Israel he lived in Jerusalem and he raised a large family who is now bereaved and in pain.

As previously reported on VIN News, Rabbi Yeshayahu Krishevsky was also brutally slain today in a terror attack.

In a statement released to the media, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo condemned the attacks and called for an end to the bloodshed that has been sweeping the country.

“Earlier today, across Israel, three terrorist attacks injured multiple people and resulted in the death of two more innocents. This is the latest in a senseless spree of terror that has shaken the people of Israel and claimed the lives of numerous civilians in recent weeks – and the violence must stop. I have said many times before that friends stand together in times of crisis, and this remains true today. As we continue to pray for peace, my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Israel, especially those most affected during this troubling time.”
