New York - Gallup Poll: Presidential Race Tightens Obama +2 Points |
|
Both candidates continued vigorous campaigning on Monday. One forthcoming event with the potential to affect voter sentiments is a 30-minute Barack Obama paid program, for which his campaign has purchased time on Wednesday night on a number of national broadcast and cable television networks.
The two percentage point margin for Obama over McCain in today's traditional likely voters result, based on Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Oct. 25-27, is not the first time the race has been this close; it matches the two-point Obama margin that held for three straight reporting periods spanning Oct. 13 -17, a week and a half ago. The traditional model assumes that turnout will follow the patterns of past elections, in which both current interest in the election and past voting behavior are predictors of actual voting.
Obama's seven-point lead among expanded likely voters, based on a model which makes no assumptions about turnout based on past voting history, is fairly typical of what has been measured over the last two weeks, although slightly narrowed from the last two days' reports. Obama's lowest margin among this expanded group was four points, measured on Oct. 15-17.
Obama is also now at a seven-point margin over McCain among registered voters, 50% to 43%.

Also, what happens if these polls in NY are not too true and the race is closer than the drive bys want you to know??? Nothing is for sure until the polls close at 9p in NY. Besides that, I think we are in for another long election night b/c the exit polls will be incorrect again.

In NY and NYC your vote for MCCain is a waste. Based upon the electoral system that is used in the USA, NY will go for Obama. You cannot refute that. Therefore by voting for MCCain you accomplish several things:
1. You tell the Democratic Party - that rules NY that they should NOT pander to you or the FRUM community.
2. You tell your local representatives that you don’t support them or their colleagues. They DONT have to pander to you.
3. You weaken the force of the Jewish Vote by showing that we DONT vote as a block. And since we don’t vote as a block we don’t need to be pandered to.
So when things, like road repair, street lights, garbage collection, street cleaning, and other local services don’t seem to be provided as quickly as they should be or used to be ask yourself why? If you don’t support your local officials and the people they support why they should jump faster for you.
There will be arguments to refute the above but you cannot claim the statements above are not true.
If you want your vote to count then move to a state where a small number of votes can swing the outcome. NY is not going to swing Republican. NJ might, FL might. Good Luck
Today’s Jewish Frum population does not seem to remember American History or never learned it. Lets review some of it.

OBAMA DISTORTS AND LIES -- ALL AMERICANS TO PAY HIGHER TAXES
Senator Obama is not being truthful when he says only Americans earning $250,000 will get a tax increase.
Senator Obama plans to let the current 2007 rates lapse. The rates under Obama will return to the higher 2000 level. Senator Obama claims that letting a tax cut lapse is not a "tax increase."
But requiring Americans to pay more taxes in 2008 than in 2007 amounts to a TAX INCREASE.
For a married family, filing jointly and earning $75,000 a year, this INCREASE will be $3,074.
For a married family, filing jointly and earning $50,000, this INCREASE will be $1,512.
Even struggling American families making just $25,000 a year will see a tax INCREASE-- they'll pay $715 more in 2010 than they did in 2007.
Across the board, ALL WORKING AMERICANS WILL SEE SIGNIFICANT INCREASES in their taxes with Obama's plans.
Yes, it will affect Americans even if their household income is as low as $25,000.

Oct 29, 2008 at 09:48 AM Brian Says:
Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59. So, that's what they decided to do.
The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free.
But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'
They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free.
But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
"I only got a dollar out of the $20, "declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got $10!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got TEN times more than I!" "That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!" "Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore.
In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
For those who understand, no explanation is needed. For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Folks, get over it. Obama is going to win, and he's going to be a big improvement. I don't get all the hysteria. If Obama's tax plan is "socialism" then Ronald Reagan's must have been communism, because Obama's proposed rates are lower than Reagan's were. Bush & McCain are in favor of unnaturally low top rates that harm the middle class (60% of Americans' incomes have gone down since 2001, adjusted for inflation) and create crushing deficits. I think the Republicans need a period of exile to come up with some good ideas since they are clearly out of them.

Hey, Yakov, not everything in life is rational. While what you say here sounds good, it is not the way to get anything changed. You seem to have forgotten the Dem's favorites, the Clinton's, who forever embarrased our great nation with their immoral antics. Any moral Jew should stand up for morality and make the Dem's pay the price. Don't you worry about politicians not pandering to our community. You forgot the magic word that brings them running: "money". Without money from constituents they can't party away as they must do to survive. While I may not have all the answers to refute you line-by-line, greater activists than either you or me will surely know how to have the politicians play into their hands. If Obama is campaigning in VA, it may be because he thinks that he has a chance to close the gap there. Most candidates in the last weeks of campaign, when time is limited, do not campaign in states where they don't think they have a chance. That's why McCain won't be campaigning in IL and Obama will be skipping TX.
I do agree that you should vote for the candidate whom you think is better, and shouldn't stay home just because the polls may imply your vote would be "wasted". Not to mention that there are plenty of local races/ referendums to vote on too.
