LOHUD.com (http://lohud.us/1kXNUpY) reports that as a result of the DOE’s findings, a monitor from the department’s Office of Civil Rights (OCR) will remain in place to oversee the implementation of a 12-step plan agreed to last month by East Ramapo officials.
The DOE halted its investigation based on East Ramapo’s willingness to enter into the 12-step plan agreement.
The OCR fired off a letter on Tuesday to NAACP President Willie Trotman assuring that its inquiry will be resumed if East Ramapo fails to comply with term of the agreement.
Yidden have always been at the forefront of fighting against discrimination it is a shame what is happening to these immigrants in Spring Valley, bec. the law says clearly it doesnt matter if they are here illegally they are entitled to a free and quality education regardless even if there is a hundred of them it is the job of the school board to come up with the money.
ALL the residents includes taxpayers. Right?
whether agree or not, All children are entitled to full education , regardeless of immigration status. If the school district doesn’t believe it,the courts will show them, with fines and lawsuits.
The law clearly requires the state to provide an education to all children.
Why did the board send two hasidic special ed students to a school in Vermont at a cost of 130 thousand dollars per student? Aren’t there good enough schools in NY? It’s items like this that are discriminatory. Why does a handicapped student need to take ski lessons? How will that help him get a job? What about the 8 thousand dollar swing they bought for the hasidic kids? The public school kids never got a swing!
