Both Anthony Cardone and Michael McGinn were elected to the council, beating out Daniel Burke, the sole candidate supported by the Village of Kiryas Joel. The Kiryas Joel Alliance, an opposition movement within the village, supported Cardone and McGinn.
“We’re incredibly pleased,” United Monroe’s Emily Convers told VIN News. “This is a great step towards good government in our town which is sorely needed and we are happy to have two qualified, competent people who will represent everyone fairly in the Town of Monroe.”
Kiryas Joel village officials were not available to comment on tonight’s election results.

In the end result even Satmar chasidin dont have a future in the Galut (galus). They can either come to Eretz Yisroel on their own free will, or wait to be driven out, like what happened to them in Der-Heim
No matter if the zalonim had a victory bringing in their candidates. You have to remember the ahronim always win!!!!! They never lost since the whole politic….
Reply to 1. The whole name of united Monroe being such antisemitism is also a brainwash from them. And of course a go is a got. But go get a life. The village here is on the loose and they have no boundaries what’s so ever. So stop with that song. Antisemitism! !!!!
And for us Jew haters bringing down shul in middle of the night and closing up shulls. And having no problem arresting people this is the result of become a perfect Jew hater…..
never get too comfortable in Galus is what we all know, but in the meantime we need to survive and these self hating reform jews are of no help
United Monroe are just people as American citizens who are Not ready to move away from the area they live for a very long long time much before our Shtetel Kiryas Joel was established. They agree to let the Kiryas Yoel residents live in our zone but they are not ready to be driven out of their zoning.

We should be happy with what we have.
the kiryas joel village is runed by a one party the aronites for a very long period of time wich is never good and leads to corruption as it is . the zalys got to have the apprtunity to win .
Good news. Too bad Ramapo couldn’t be saved.
Calling those living outside Kiryas Joel ‘anti-Semites’ is particularly offensive as many of those people are also Jews, and so many of them are the friends and neighbors of people living within the community’s borders. The fact that the KJ Alliance and United Monroe have had concerns — environmental and legal — about the annexation does not make them anti-Semitic, and stating such is a fabrication and lie that the leaders of the current KJ ruling faction have used to manipulate their voters. We’re thankful that the Alliance has seen that for what it is, and that so many rejected the divisive policies of the leadership of both KJ and the Town of Monroe.
There are legalities over the annexation of land to change zoning, and that is what has upset many in Orange County. But opposing irresponsible development due to environmental and legal issues is not a “religious” act. And people have seen that for what it is.
It’s also unfortunate that this paper’s treatment of the story reflected a similar bias. None of us truly care about religion, whether Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist, all of whom live in Monroe. This is about civil and accountable government. Nothing more.
