Monroe, NY - Big Win For United Monroe In Town Council Elections
Monroe, NY - United Monroe has claimed victory in a race tonight that handed the grassroots movement that has opposed the Kiryas Joel expansion two seats on the Town of Monroe board.
Both Anthony Cardone and Michael McGinn were elected to the council, beating out Daniel Burke, the sole candidate supported by the Village of Kiryas Joel. The Kiryas Joel Alliance, an opposition movement within the village, supported Cardone and McGinn.
“We’re incredibly pleased,” United Monroe’s Emily Convers told VIN News. “This is a great step towards good government in our town which is sorely needed and we are happy to have two qualified, competent people who will represent everyone fairly in the Town of Monroe.”
Kiryas Joel village officials were not available to comment on tonight’s election results.
