Chicago, IL - He has been a near-constant presence at hundreds of Barack Obama rallies across the US over the past 24 months. 51-year-old reporter turned media consultant David Axelrod, a melancholy, dishevelled figure with a drooping moustache, is Obama's right hand man and was the campaign strategist, and has overseen his rise from political obscurity to the being elected the first black president of the White House.
âHeâs not just a client, heâs a very good friend of mine,â David Axelrod, right, said of Barack Obama. âWe share a worldview.â Mr. Axelrod is said to be the closest person to Obama.
Although Chicago is home, Axelrod, was born in New York's Lower East Side, into a leftwing Jewish family, his mother a journalist and his father a psychologist.
When he was eight, his parents divorced. When he was 19 - a tragedy he mentioned publicly for the first time only in a moving Father's Day article for the Chicago Tribune - his father committed suicide. It began: 'My father died 31 years ago ...' and described him as my 'best friend and hero', an immigrant who had fled the anti-Jewish pogroms of eastern Europe, survived an 'unhappy, failed marriage', yet never showed any signs of sadness. It ended: 'It has taken me more than 30 years to say out loud that the man I most loved and admired took his own life.'

There is no doubt that David Axelrod is a brilliant strategist and that he got Obama elected. Unfortunately, Axelrod could care less about Israel and the welfare of the Jewish people or he would not have been working for Obama in the first place. Perhaps his own personal sorrows have made him crazy.

Or maybe he doesn't think that Obama is a danger to the Jews. Have an open mind and understand that some ppl disagree with you.

Bill Clinton also had numerous Jews in his administration. Unfortunately they were all left wing, liberals and/or secular/socialist Jews who knew little of, or didn't care much for Torah Judaism or Israel.

The tone of the disagreements about Obama & Co. being conducted on blogs and elsewhere is very troubling.
If c"v he has ill intentions towards us or bnai yisroel in eretz yisroel we'd better put our differences aside NOW. Machlokes between us will only make him stronger.
