In an apparent response to requests for guidance regarding the issue, Rabbi Kanievsky compared Sen. Obama to King Hordus, who rose from humble origins to become king of ancient Israel and build the Beis Hamikdash.

I am sick of people connecting the concerns surrounding Barack Obama to racism. I am a "yeshiva hocker" and I have friends who are black people. There is nothing wrong with them. I judge black, white, hispanics, mexicans, jews......you get the picture the same...........based on character. It's interesting you use the term "braindead," and the yeshiva hockers are making us look that way. On national television one of the major newscasters today call over 75% of American Jewry braindead for voting democrat and not investigating the dangers connected with him. My dislike of Obama merely has to do with his anti-Semitic connections such as Wright, Malley, Ayers, Khalidi, Power, Farakhan, Jackson, Sharpton, Biden, Carter, Kenyan president, Saudi Arabian president. If the guy was Jewish I would stay far away from him

Fascinating the delusions we harbor when faced with a challenge especially one in which our biased media kept any information that would impinge on their choice of candidate - Barack Hussein Obama (of the three Arab names)from the public!
The issue over his being "Black" misdirects thinking from what is important. Its his ideological roots, Socialist, associations and relationships with radicals, Jew-haters, America-haters and a campaign financed in large measure by Islamic sources again kept from public scrutiny such as Syria and Saudi Arabia.
A president of America with such tainted history and financial backers represents a challenge indeed.
For my purposes, is he good for the Jews?
To weigh in you need information much of it kept from public view ensuring a president of America whose criteria, character, associates, friends and ideology are imperatives essential for intelligent decision-making - and voting!

The Arabs and the Muslims voted for Obama, as did 8 in 10 Jews. Considering that the President has a lot to do with whether or not Israel remains an American ally, who was crazy?
The real question is who cared the most about Eretz Yisroel.
The Jews didn’t mind that Obama belonged to a church which honored Louis Farakhan. The Jews didn’t mind Obama’s 20-year relationship with his mentor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, an anti Semite like Farakhan. The Jews didn’t mind that Obama’s church sympathized with Hamas, including Hamas literature in the church bulletins. The Jews didn’t mind that Obama’s friends included Rashid Khalidi, an anti-Semite from the PLO, nor did they lose any sleep that Obama’s buddies included a Syrian born gangster, Tony Rezko, presently convicted for racketeering in Chicago. Heck, let’s all join the party. Who raised Obama's $600 million? Clue: Not Hadassah.
8 in 10 American Jews spurned John McCain, a man with a long, unimpeachable record of supporting Israel, a man who repeatedly pledged that he would never permit a Second Holocaust.
If a white Republican party presidential candidate had belonged to a church which honored anti-black racists, the Jews, and the Democrats, and the New York Times, would have never dropped the subject.
The breadth and common-placeness of the double standard is both breathtaking and ominous.
What does this mean? It means that the Jews in America, as an ethnic group, have lost what little influence they may have had in American politics. Those who wish Jews ill always claim that Jews control the government. The fact is Jewish influence has been modest.
Now it is eviscerated, courtesy of Jewish spinelessness and lack of gratitude to gentile friends who have shown graciousness towards Jews and concern for the Jews in Israel.
The Jews in America have shown themselves to be without a clue about who they are and incapable of distinguishing between friend and deadly foe. The fact that Obama will surround himself with Jewish advisers is not meaningful. The advisers derive their power from Obama, not the other way around.
When Obama begins to suffocate Israel in a year, or two, or three, his Jewish acolytes will be there to explain how wonderful it all is.

Your points are well taken and you write very eloquently. I also voted for and supported John McCain. But I disagree that Obama will go after Israel. Obama is first and foremost a politician. He realizes that it was Jewish brains and Jewish money that got him where he is today. Also if he does assume power he will be privy to confidential information about the strong alliance between Israel and the USA.

Wrong, Hordus was a son of Antipater an eved, who was the chief of staff of Horkenes hamelech of the Chashmonoen. He was a lightweight as far as a person is concerned, no intellectual. “ this story is so not true. hordus, or herod, was no commoner, and i think a gadol batorah like rav chaim kanievsky would know that! he came from very well connected parents in the roman aristocracy. he was no light weight like obama, and had actual governing experience before becoming a king. he was governor first of the galil (galilee) and the sanhedrin despised him. (so did the christians for that matter, as he was considered a murderer of the innocent. maybe that is where they share similarity, as he is for killing innocent babies born from botched abortions.) i guess like herod, obama will buy the people with public projects. the only difference is , here in this country, the people pay for it, not the romans! ”
WOW - you think you are smarter than a godol. I didnt think such arrogance existed. And to say it publicly, albiet anononmously, still amazing.

how do you say who is a jew? if someone was born a jew he is a jew forever! its just that his soul is coverd over allitle, and its everyones responsibility to take care of them.
just because he doesnt know anything, that doesnt make you any better, maybe his neshomo is closer to the eibershter than yours! just because you cant see it that doesnt mean he doesnt have one!!!!!

If Hashem himself would come down and say something good about Obama the people on this site would somehow find a way to twist things around, everybody here wants so much for him to fail.
But that could never happen since Hashem is obviously a republican.

“ How can anyone attack Maran Rav Kanievsky???? He's a Godol Hador. ”
No one is attacking him. We just wonder what happened to the Gemara Bava Basra 3b-4a.
Herod did not only kill all the Tannaim and blind Bava ben Buta. No big deal? Oh. He also killed all the Chashmonaim so he could get the throne, and he left one girl Miriam so he could claim the throne.
The Gemara doesn't tell you the rest of the story - he was installed as king by the legions sent by Emperor Augustus, and as a tribute to Rome he placed a golden Roman symbol, and eagle, at the entry of the Beis HaMikdash.
There is much much more (none of it good, in fact exceptionally ruthless) and it was documented by one of his followers - Josephus Flavius (Yosifun). (Sources: Codex Judaica by Rabbi Kantor).

Oh please you make it sound like all of us are freaking out that a black guy was elected ..................not all of us are reactionist kooks (although unfortunately a lot of us seem a tad racist )
My point is the yeshiva hockers should go back to their gemaras and calm down -you make us all look braindead ”
Nobody that I know of is upset that a black man was elected president. People are upset that a man who was insensitive to his pastor's anti-Semitism and who has surrounded himself with anti-Israel types was elected president.
You, ex-Frummie, must come up with some false accusation in order to rationalize in your own mind why you an an ex-Frummie, since there is no reasonable explanation for it

“ The mahigei Yisroel are called "einei hoeidah", they not only KNOW but can SEE what you can't. Where does someone take such chutzpah to try to be mevazeh a Gadol beYisroel? I say "try", because you actually wasn't mevazeh him, instead you were mevazeh yourself as someone who knows nothing. A misnaged indeed. ”
Those who start by being mivazeh "other" Gedolim, eventually begin to speak disparingly about ALL Gedolim.
I have seen Talmidim speak against Chabad Rebbe'im, and later they decend to mock Roshei Yeshivos, and then continue to spiral downward as they mock parts of Torah with which they "disagree".

Obama didn't "come from slavery" neither did any of his black ancestors (as far as we know). His father was a foreign student from Kenya, not a descendant of slaves! In fact, not only is he not descendced from slaves, unlike most blacks in the US, he is descended from slaveowners. His white mother's ancestors owned slaves.

“ The Arabs and the Muslims voted for Obama, as did 8 in 10 Jews.
it only took four months for Obama to begin to suffocate Israel.
I am looking for guidance how to avoid the anger and hatred I feel for my American Jewish comunity for electing this soneh Yisrael.
