“With anxiety and uncertainly roiling some in the international frum Jewish community at the recent election of Barack Obama as America’s first black president”

Oh please you make it sound like all of us are freaking out that a black guy was elected ………………not all of us are reactionist kooks (although unfortunately a lot of us seem a tad racist )

My point is the yeshiva hockers should go back to their gemaras and calm down -you make us all look braindead

Umm…is that a good thing as Hordus rebuilt the Beis Hamikdash or is that a bad thing because he slaughtered many people beforehand?

He may have been referring to what the Gemara says about Hordus, “eved ki yimloch…..”

this story is so not true. hordus, or herod, was no commoner, and i think a gadol batorah like rav chaim kanievsky would know that! he came from very well connected parents in the roman aristocracy. he was no light weight like obama, and had actual governing experience before becoming a king. he was governor first of the galil (galilee) and the sanhedrin despised him. (so did the christians for that matter, as he was considered a murderer of the innocent. maybe that is where they share similarity, as he is for killing innocent babies born from botched abortions.) i guess like herod, obama will buy the people with public projects. the only difference is , here in this country, the people pay for it, not the romans!

this has got to be misquoted. r’ chaim kanievsky shlita exists in so many more dimensions than we know exist, it is not likely he would have said this as its being reported. humble origins? yup, son of diplomat ivy league law school… please omg why are we so pathetic…

The Arabs and the Muslims voted for Obama, as did 8 in 10 Jews. Considering that the President has a lot to do with whether or not Israel remains an American ally, who was crazy?

The real question is who cared the most about Eretz Yisroel.

The Jews didn’t mind that Obama belonged to a church which honored Louis Farakhan. The Jews didn’t mind Obama’s 20-year relationship with his mentor Reverend Jeremiah Wright, an anti Semite like Farakhan. The Jews didn’t mind that Obama’s church sympathized with Hamas, including Hamas literature in the church bulletins. The Jews didn’t mind that Obama’s friends included Rashid Khalidi, an anti-Semite from the PLO, nor did they lose any sleep that Obama’s buddies included a Syrian born gangster, Tony Rezko, presently convicted for racketeering in Chicago. Heck, let’s all join the party. Who raised Obama’s $600 million? Clue: Not Hadassah.

8 in 10 American Jews spurned John McCain, a man with a long, unimpeachable record of supporting Israel, a man who repeatedly pledged that he would never permit a Second Holocaust.

If a white Republican party presidential candidate had belonged to a church which honored anti-black racists, the Jews, and the Democrats, and the New York Times, would have never dropped the subject.

The breadth and common-placeness of the double standard is both breathtaking and ominous.

What does this mean? It means that the Jews in America, as an ethnic group, have lost what little influence they may have had in American politics. Those who wish Jews ill always claim that Jews control the government. The fact is Jewish influence has been modest.

Now it is eviscerated, courtesy of Jewish spinelessness and lack of gratitude to gentile friends who have shown graciousness towards Jews and concern for the Jews in Israel.

The Jews in America have shown themselves to be without a clue about who they are and incapable of distinguishing between friend and deadly foe. The fact that Obama will surround himself with Jewish advisers is not meaningful. The advisers derive their power from Obama, not the other way around.

When Obama begins to suffocate Israel in a year, or two, or three, his Jewish acolytes will be there to explain how wonderful it all is.

In the meantime the Republicans have so messed up the world. They have sunk into an endless war in Iraq while letting the Iranians build the biggest threat to Jews since Hitler without lifting a finger to stop them. I fear that the US has exhausted itself by total mismanagement

Obama came from out of nowhere to become king.

    This is obviously not normal.

Exciting times are on the way.–Stay tuned.

If Hashem himself would come down and say something good about Obama the people on this site would somehow find a way to twist things around, everybody here wants so much for him to fail.
But that could never happen since Hashem is obviously a republican.
