New York - NJ Gov. Escalates War Of Words With De Blasio; Says NYC Mayor Better Suited For "Damascus"
New York, NY - New Jersey Governor and GOP presidential hopeful Chris Christie escalated his running war of words with Bill de Blasio on Sunday by saying that the mayor of New York City might be better suited to govern “Damascus.”
Christie made the comments during a Sunday appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.
“Given the way he’s talking, and not worried about the security and safety of the people of New York, maybe he should be mayor of Damascus,” Christie said during a discussion about Syrian refugees.
The feud between the two neighboring pols heated up this week after de Blasio held up the iconic photo of a Syrian father holding his drowned infant son in response to Christie’s stance that 5 year-old Syrian orphans should be denied entry to the U.S.
When asked for comment on Christie’s most recent jab, de Blasio press secretary Karen Hinton said, “Yawn.”
