Brooklyn, NY – The 21st day of Kislev is celebrated annually by Satmar chasidim worldwide as the day R’ Yoel Teitelbaum Zt’l the founder of Satmar Chasidis in America, escaped from Hungary and this year marks the 71th anniversary of the Grand Rebbe’s escape from the Nazis.

R’ Teitelbaum was among over 1600 people who were transported out of Hungary by train due to the efforts of Rudolf Kastner, one of the leaders of Budapest’s Vaadat Ezra V’Hatzalah, who brokered a deal with Adolph Eichmann to let the passengers leave in exchange for a large sum of money, diamonds and gold. While Eichmann reneged on the deal and had the train sent to Bergen Belsen, the train was finally released after four months of negotiations and the passengers finally obtained their freedom when they arrived in Switzerland.

Last night was no different as both major Satmar factions celebrated the event in different venues.

    Was a beautiful event.

The entire rescue of the Stamar Rebbe Z’tl is well documented in the biography of the rebbe in “Moshian Shel Yisroel” i think volume 8.

While Kastner was the one who arranged the train it was the Frum Orthodox activist in Budapest who paid loads of money to make sure the Rebbe got on the train in spite of the Zionist.

Also, it should be noted when the train was at the border of Switzerland they got a telegram to stop the transport becuase not all the money for the train was paid to Eichman y’ms. It was a frum orthodox person by the name of Rubinfeld from Switzerland who cam with more money.
There are numerous documents in “Moshian Shel Yisroel” which proves that it is becuase the Stamar Rebbe and his people that the train was able to get to Switzerland.

In the book Perfidy it is documented the Kastner trial. Its worth reading.

We are grateful to the almighty the the Satmar Rebbe lived through the Holocaust.
It is becuase of him that there are thousands of Jews worldwide who know the truth what all previous Gedolim’s opinion was about Zionism and Israel.

The Satmar rebbe kept on lecturing what Torah Misina means.Yiddishkeit without negotiations. Just becuase millions of Jews were slaughtered doesn’t give us a right Al Pi Torah to take up in arms and take a land before the coming of Moshicah.

These days more than ever it is a must for every Jew who wants to know the truth to learn the Sefer Vayoel Moshe where he proves that Al Pi Torah how dangerous it is to have a land before the coming of Moshicah.
He writes there about the evil of Zionism and how it is them who caused the Holocaust.

And off course we all know how he instilled in his Chassidim to do Chesed for other Jews. No matter if a Jew is frum or not Zionist or anti Chesed is Chesed.

Boy, I am certainly happy I am not Satmar, I can not take large groups of people squashed into a room for any lengths of time.
I suppose I should join the Claustrophobic chassidim, but the Claustrophobic rebbe has yet to reveal himself in public.

לא מצאתי לגוף טוב יותר משתיקה.
Sometimes, if you really want to do chesed, you need to NOT say somethings.
This is one of those times, Mr. (not) Maven …

Blaming Zionism for the Holocaust is ridiculous. Hitler and the Nazi Party were intent on doing away with the Jews across Europe regardless of Zionisim with all their power. If anything it can be argued that the Eastern European Zionistic Jews who moved to Israel before the holocaust were saved because of Zionism.

Great book, quite disturbing – author Ben Hecht.

I believe it’s a terribly sad shame that there are 2 different factions under 2 brothers. Maybe if they’d make peace it would help Moshiach come a lot faster!

    Maven,
I have been tied up all day and could not share the story of Kastner and how there would be no Satmar without Zionists. As for all the fans of Ben Hecht and his fictional account attacking Kastner, please read about Mr. Hecht, a Jew who would not be welcome in your Shuls:

He married Marie Armstrong, a gentile,[4] in 1915, when he was twenty-one years of age, and they had a daughter, Edwina, who became actress Edwina Armstrong. He later met Rose Caylor, a writer, and together they left Chicago (and his family) in 1924, moving to New York. He was divorced from Armstrong in 1925. He married Caylor that same year, and they remained married until Hecht’s death in 1964.[27] In 1943 they had a daughter, Jenny Hecht, who later became an actress, but died of a drug overdose in 1971 at the age of twenty-seven. A play about her brief life, The Screenwriter’s Daughter, was staged in London in October 2015.[28]
