Washington - ABC News: ISIS May Be Using Authentic-Looking Passports Printed On Machines Seized In Stronghold Takeovers
Washington - A U.S. intelligence report issued last week warns that ISIS may now have the capabilities of printing authentic-looking Syrian passports through the use of machines it has acquired during takeovers of Syrian cities.
ABCNEWS.com (http://abcn.ws/1IYkEF9) reports that, according to the 17-page Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Intelligence Report, two passport offices—-replete with passport printing machines and “boxes of blank passports”—-have fallen into the hands of ISIS fighters during the takeovers of the Syrian cities of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zour.
The report also warns that Syrians carrying ISIS-generated passports may have already used them to travel to the U.S.
“Since more than 17 months [have] passed since Raqqa and Deir ez-Zour fell to ISIS, it is possible that individuals from Syria with passports ‘issued’ in these ISIS controlled cities or who had passport blanks, may have traveled to the U.S.,” the report warns.
