Brooklyn, NY - EDC Plans For Townhouses, Apartments, And Sports Center At Bedford-Union Armory In Crown Heights Revealed
Brooklyn, NY - According to multiple sources familiar with the project, New York City’s Economic Development Corporation has plans to construct private town houses, market-rate apartments and a sports center at the Bedford-Union Armory in Crown Heights.
DNAINFO.com (http://dnain.fo/1UsV9lQ) reports that insiders say a portion of the available 138,000 square-feet, a section located on the building’s south side along President’s Street, will be sold to a developer for the construction of 12 private townhouses.
A parking garage currently located along the building’s east side will be razed and replaced with rental units broken down into a ratio of 50% market rate, 30% for middle income, and 20% lower-income.
The armory’s main building, replete with its iconic domed roof, will remain, housing a swimming pool, three basketball courts and an indoor soccer field which will be operated by the Flatbush nonprofit CAMBA and remain open to the public.
