52 year old Wayne Alman was arrested as a result of an investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad. A police spokesperson declined to identify Alman’s place of residence, telling VIN News that no further identifying details are released about New York City employees.
As previously reported on VIN News, Eleonora Shulkina was crossing East 17th Street last Monday night when she was hit by an eastbound MTA B36 bus just before 6 PM. Shulkina, who suffered trauma to the head, was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital a short time later.
Alman remained on scene following the fatal crash.
Shulkina’s death marks the third fatality involving an MTA bus and a pedestrian in Brooklyn. A 70 year old woman using a walker died in a hit and run accident on November 3rd in Ocean Hill and a 41 year old woman lost her life as she tried to cross Ocean Avenue near Avenue J outside the crosswalk on November 25th.
If it was an accident and stayed at the scene why was he arrested? Part of vision zero should be that after dusk it should be mandatory to wear a reflective belt.
Nebach…the driver is a frum man.
