Toronto – A New York City man has been charged with attempted murder in a machete attack in downtown Toronto.

Police said the unprovoked attack against a 30-year-old man occurred on around 5 p.m. Wednesday, near the Eaton Centre, Canada’s largest retail mall, on the busiest shopping day of the season. The victim suffered serious injuries to his head and leg.
Thirty-five-year-old Arlington Thompson of Queens has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning.
Police say there may be more victims.
An eye witness Terence Yip tweeted that the attacker, a black man, yelled “F–k white people” before allegedly attacking the victim, who is white.
“… Eaton Centre, Canada’s largest retail mall …”
Huh? … I thought that West Edmonton Mall was the largest.
