The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until noon Friday.

Between 3-5 inches of snow are expected in New York City and its northern suburbs. Up to 8 inches of snow could fall on some parts of Long Island.

Weather officials say the snow could create slippery roads and poor visibility.

The snow is expected to taper off by afternoon.

The forecast for Saturday and Sunday is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s.
