Brooklyn, NY - Arrested In Pair Of Brooklyn Knife Attacks, Manhattan Man Confesses To Crown Heights Stabbing
Brooklyn, NY - Brooklyn, NY - An Upper West Side man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Chasidic man in Crown Heights exactly one month ago.
Police told VIN News that 26 year old Keny Rochelin of W 83rd Street in Manhattan confessed to the February stabbing. As previously reported on VIN News, 25 year old Leiby Brikman was walking on Empire Boulevard near Kingston Avenue on February 10th when he was stabbed in the back without provocation.
Rochelin was apprehended by police who were searching the area near Prospect Park after two men were stabbed in the park last night. In the first incident, a 30 year old jogger was attacked by a knife wielding man at approximately 11:30 PM. Shortly thereafter, a 42 year old man was stabbed in the stomach.
The attacker took the victim’s wallet before fleeing the scene. Both men were taken to Kings County Hospital and are expected to survive.
Rochelin was charged with attempted murder as a hate crime, aggravated harassment as a hate crime and criminal possession in the Brikman stabbing. Police said that the investigation is still ongoing and could not say if Rochelin was also connected to the November 5th stabbing of a Crown Heights Hatzolah member as he was walking down Eastern Parkway.
Rochelin was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon in last night’s attack on the 30 year old man and robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the stabbing of the 43 year old victim.
Police could not confirm whether Rochelin had a history of prior arrests.
