Baltimore Senator Jim Brochin hands Rabbi Nochum Rosenberg award for The Awareness Center
Baltimore, MD - The Awareness Center, Inc. presented last week Rabbi Nochum Rosenberg with the first annual "Rape Victim Advocate Of The Year Award" -- in recognition of his dedication, determination and also for risking his life in hopes of helping those who have been sexually abused in orthodox Jewish communities around the globe .

Presenting the 2008 award was Maryalnd's Senator, James Brochin and Vicki Polin, Founder/Director of The Awareness Center, Inc.

In an exclusive interview with VIN News before this award was given to Mr. Rosneberg, Maryland State Sen. James Brochin, an outspoken lawmaker on sexual abuse issues, said, "I don't know much about Rabbi Rosenberg, but the issues that he has raised should definitely be receiving of more support in the Orthodox community.

At the same time I'd like to send a wake-up call for the Baltimore Jewish Council and the Orthodox community to please support my efforts to pass the statute of limitation extension law. I am quite disappointed that the community of Baltimore, who know full well they have abuse issues, did not to come out and help me on sex abuse issues."

It's impossible to prove a "negative".

If you say you had seen him being hit, then you may be saying the truth or it may be lie.

But if you say that you know for sure that something "DID NOT HAPPEN" then you are for sure a Lier.

"Loy Rainu Eina Raya" it's physically imposable for you to know what you claim, you know that "it did not happen", so you are a lier, for sure, 100%.

Now that we know 100% for sure that you are a lier, the question is what is your MOTIVATION to perpetrate this lie?

Perhaps, you have a good reason to lie, especially if you or one of your friends was perhaps the shooter or attacker of Rosenberg or perhaps you or your friends is one of the pedophiles whom Rosenberg is a accusing?

He did not bring any attention on no topic!! don't kid yourself! you probably don't know him so you make a fool out of yourself with your statement.
This man suffers of a severe case of "ADD" (attention deficiency disorder), He opened a hotline for ATTENTION! he made all kids of klal yisroel mamzeirim because NO MIKVA IS KOSHER (besides the 3 mikvas he designed, in Madrid morocco and Malaysia..).
he didn't get enough attention, so he started bashing out on all gedolei yisroel with the lowest language and all kinds of insults! when it still didn't satisfy his crave for attention, he started talking nivul peh, including some molestation issues also. that's it! it's a severe case of ADD.

Excuse me, but you happen to have NO knowledge of what ADD is. This is quite offensive, especially to one who might have said condition. What basis do you have to make medical judgments?
“ He did not bring any attention on no topic!! don't kid yourself! you probably don't know him so you make a fool out of yourself with your statement." On the contrary, a good number of people wouldn't have thought much about the issue if not for him. de facto, that is bringing attention to it, even though SOME people were aware of the issues.
Molestation happens. I know people it has happened to. To bash this man because of whatever motivation you have is wrong and misleading. Who would make a hotline to listen to these kids voluntarily if it's for personal gain? There are a LOT less stressful methods that merit a LOT less bad blood. I don' t think it's made up.

I agree with you 100%.

To the commentors who try to invalidate R' Nuchem because his manner is considered eccentric in Williamsburgh - I quote the Kotzker- "the middle of the road is for the horses" To accomplish in this world you have to be "different" or by way of analogy "off the side of the road"
The first Rema in the Shulchan Aruch states "pay no heed to the scoffers" (free translation). The Lubavitcher Rebbe asks why the Rema chose this message as his first commentary to the Shulchan Aruch & furthermore there is seemingly no relevance to the Rema's statement to the first Sif in Shulchan Aruch which is unusual.
The Rebbe answers very profoundly. "the Rema chose this to be the first halacha because if you can't keep this halacha you will not be able to keep the rest of shulchan aruch.
My message to R' Nuchem is "do not pay heed to the scoffers" you are bringing awareness & saving lives.

The Awareness Center is a true establishment of chessed. Every child spared the atrocities that we have covered up in the past is another victory of these brave champions of justice. These heroes risk everything to defend those that have no defense of their own.

I wish every advocate for the safety of Jewish children success and safety. Many people support you, despite the nasty comments you may see or hear. YOU are the chosen people. Its very brave that you spoke out and all the better that you got the result you hoped for.But i know someone who was damaged and the parents went to the rabbonim but they hushed it under the carpet and said"we musnt do anything or he wont be able to get a shidduch".So for those "rabbonim"the message is obviously not clear enough that its a issue that will not go away just because people are scared that the public will find out such things go on.

Here is a well known factual episode that ocurred in ger in boro park and came to its bitter conclusion roughly almost 3 years ago:

A parent of a rabbi-molested child went to a mechanech involved in the gerrer mosdos to ask his opinion about what to do with his son's accusation. The mechanech scoffed at the parent and suggested that the child is a sicko for fabricating such lies about a well known mashgiach. Only a few years later did the very same mechanech aproach the child's father in tears asking for mechila. G-d had stepped in to avenge the improper response of the mechanech............the mechanech's own grandson was molested BY THE VERY SAME MASHGIACH. Be very carefull when you attack those who have stood up against all odds to defend the voiceless victims and the innocent children whose parents and rabbonim refuse to protect from such heinous crimes.

52

Dec 03, 2008 at 02:51 AM Anonymous Says:

In Baltimore, the mashgiach of Ner Yisroel as well as the principal of Sheris Hapleita School have been accused of molesting. The facts are on the Awareness Center's website. NO PUBLIC INVESTIGATION was done. The police tried to do one, but the rabbis told everyone not to cooperate with them. Therefore, Baltimore continues to be an Eer Hanidachas when it comes to child molestation Karbanos. Rav Ruderman Z"TL, is turning over in his Kever, R"L.

What's the difference between what happens in Williamsburg and Baltimore? Nothing. It's the same story in every from community. Children get molested and the rabbonim do what they can to cover up the crimes -- they shame and blame the victims and honor those who offend.

The only way this will stop is by people like rav rosenberg, vicki polin and rav blau.

I was personally involved in a turmoil around a molestation accusation in a heimishe moisad in Brooklyn, I had the "honor" to confront the moisad with the suspicions, I had a meeting with a few respected board members and the menahel, they took it very serious, and they wanted to fire that teacher immediately. they asked a rav (affiliated with that moisad), and the rav said that you're not allowed to kill a person because of a 6 year old's accusation, on the other hand, this subject is too sensitive to take a risk with the kids in his class.
the rav ordered them not to let in the kids in class before there's a surveillance camera installed in the class room and in the teachers room. That very night the cameras were installed!
The end of the investigation, after a confession of the accuser, and after monitoring the cameras for over a year, it turned out to be a hoax. but thats not the point, the point is that most mosdos do take these issues very very serious, and don't shove nothing under the carpet, and don't cover on anything (there may be some very few exceptions).
and certainly, this N.R. is no solution, he has a bad history in whichever subject he was involved he has only done the opposite, he's negative, with no derech and no goal, just a simple noise maker, a bad mouth, always does the wrong things in the wrong places.

People like this man subject themselves to contempt because they come out and accuse people of doing wrong. If there was no wrong doing going on then why are people like this coming out with a passion? Maybe it's nothing to worry about but frankly my awareness is piqued because of guys like him. And if he is doing nothing wrong, why the death threat and all the hatred. I say don't shoot the messenger, deal with the problem and be aware of it. The predetors are out there. You should have your antenas up so we don't get burned. For the sake of the children.

NO!! no one touched him, nobody threw any stones at him, nobody even yelled at him, no one is looking at his direction. the people in hids neighborhood know him very well, everybody is just ignoring him.

see in the outside world, we ignore the neighborhood pervs and dont look in their direction. nobody seems to mind going to shul with the pervs but make you sure you hurl stones at a rabbi trying to help victims those pervs abuse.

Again.the issue is not molestation, the issue is not predators. the issue is this guy, he is no messenger, no one says shoot him, no one is interested in hurting him. he is a plain attention seeker, talking blah blah on all kinds of shtusim, he also happened to "bump in " in the subject of molestation, and no one has a problem with that, as they don't have with all other angels working on fighting molestation for years! he has a problem thats called "ATTENTION", and he will do anything to get that, bash out on all gedolei hador, eat ice cream pops on tha street, go with a russian turban on his head, claim that all mikvaos are posul... and so on..

The man is a Tzadik and should be treated as so, all you big talkers just wait till one day one of your children get mollested by someone in yeshiva or in their school and then you will look back and cry , you will cry bc when you had someone who you could support in the fight you jumped on the bandwagon with everyone else and you laughed and jeered. Just wait my freinds when someone grabs your kid and ties his payos to the bedpost. We will see whos making the jokes then

The question is: Will you even know when it happens to your child. I highly doubt it. It can go on right under your nose and you will most likely deny and ignore it. Then, when the child acts out, you'll blame the child.... Rarely will the child get the support he needs, yet the perpetrators generally have the highest chance of getting away with anything, with their crime and with bashing people who bring it awareness, in the same way that they know how to manipulate their victims....

How long will this cycle keep going on????
