The fire broke out early this afternoon at 12 Lizensk Boulevard according to Kiryas Joel public safety director, Moses Vitriol. Half of the two story building, which also houses the Spinka Shul, has already collapsed due to damage from the blaze.

Firefighters from Kiryas Joel, Monroe, Chester, Vails Gate, Woodbury and Blooming Grove are all on scene. Huge plumes of smoke are visible from as far as five miles away with the smell of the fire permeating the air all around the area.

Vitriol said that the cause of the fire is currently unknown. While all residents of the building are safe and accounted for, it is unknown how many sifrei Torah are still located inside the burning building.

Firefighters who had entered the burning structure were ordered to evacuate because of the intensity of the flames.

it is pretty spooky that a fire should break out on a street named “lizhensk” on the yohrtzeit of the holy rebbe of lizhensk.

Families were living in the basement of the shul. Another illegal conversion where fireman sustained injuries.

Another electrical fire and insurance will pay for huge mansions to be built. I bet insurance claims for every type of TV will be filed. Why do all the men have to get in the way of those trying to fight the fire?

    Too Coincidental for me

So where are the so called “KJ firefighters”? And this happened on a Thursday afternoon – doesn’t anybody in KJ work?
