Jerusalem - Kadosh Rabbi Bentzion Kroman, h.y.d. |
|
Jerusalem - Among the murdered in the appalling terror attack on Chabad of Mumbai were Rabbi Benzion Kroman, of Bat Yam Israel, may G-d avenge his blood.
Bentzion, who survived an earthquake in China earlier this year, was killed in the Mumbai Chabad House where he had stopped briefly on Wednesday for the afternoon minhah prayer. A Zaka rescue and recovery organization spokesman told The Jerusalem Post that Chroman was found in the library slumped over an open Talmud.
On Saturday night, hours after hearing of Chroman's death, his relative Binyamin Fogel told the Post that the presence in that building of his beloved friend was entirely accidental.
Chroman, 28, had gone to India at the request of his friend, Rabbi Leibish Teitelbaum, to help supervise kashrut. Teitelbaum was also killed in the attack.
According to a brother, the family tried unsuccessfully to establish contact with him on Wednesday night. "We didn't worry that much because a few months ago, he was in the earthquake in China and when we finally got through to him, he said, 'It's a good thing there was an earthquake to remind you of me!' " said the brother. "But the next day, when I spoke with Teitelbaum's wife, I realized the situation was worse."
"Bentzion was not supposed to be there. But [Teitelbaum] asked him to go as a personal favor," Fogel said.
They had been scheduled to head out earlier this month, but the short trip was delayed to last week as a result of visa problems. The pair were scheduled leave India on Thursday so they could be back in Israel for Shabbat.
On Wednesday, Teitelbaum called his wife to say they were going to the Chabad House to pray.
Rabbi Kroman worked for various Sadigura Chasidic organizations as a manager, recently starting hashgachah work as well. He had gone on a one-time trip to India where he was supposed to visit two weeks ago but was delayed by visa problems. In India, he was supposed to certify six mushroom producers. He had dealt with fish products earlier in China.

I know Ben Zion from when he was 7 years old. He was a gem. Always with a smile and a good word. May his family find a way to continue on after this terrible story.

Benzion, you will never be forgotten. We will always remember your smile and charm and the many good "vort" you shared with anyone who was near you. Your children are now the children of G-D and i am sure he will strengthen them with "chizik".
Lets hope and pray that this is the last bad news ever.

As a close friend and Chavrusa of R' Bentzion Kruman ZT'L I'm terribly shocked and T'zbruchen, all I can say is that it brought me back memories from yeshivah days, he was a Gevaldige Masmid and he was a genious in Torah, he had a heart of gold I remember the first day I came to Yeshivah I hardly knew anybody and he was just out there for me like a father, he made me feel like at home, he was just one happy going guy always with a smile I'll never forget when he would always shlep me in Bais midrash in the early hours in the morning and the late hours of the night, he was just the kind of guy that everyone wanted to be next to, he built B'H a beautiful family in Israel with a wife and three kids they were his greatest Nachas, may they continue to go in his ways I'm sure they'll always remember that their father is looking and watching over them from Shumayim
He's a pure "Kurban Olah" for Klal Yisroel
without a doubt he's amongst the K'doshim of R' Akiva that were killed on Kiddush Hashem.
(this alone is a ticket to the highest place in Gan Eden)
may he be a Maylitz Yosher for Klal Yisroel and his family
Hashem Yinkem Dumim. . . .
the least we can all do together is learn some Mishnayis for their Neshumas
may Klal Yisroel continue together with this great Achdus and lets bring Moshiach together B'imhairu. . .

i am also in the field of kashruth and i met rabbi chroman on many occasions in beijing, and he had the sweetest melodious voice and loved to sing carlebach melodies, and his favorite melody was :kol haolam kulo gesher tzar meod, ve-ha-ikar lo lefached klal", meaning the entire world is just a narrow bridge, and the main thing is that there is nothingto fear", and i am sure he departed this world as a Kadosh singing this melody in his soft sweet melodious voice.
May Hashem avenge his blood

What's the difference? They were both Tzadikim?
Why do some people focus on such Shtus?

What are you getting so upset for? All #4 wanted to do was ensure historical accuracy of the account. Besides, people reading this may think "oh, so R' Leibush HY"D was NOT the one learning Gemara when he died", which would take away "credit" from HIM. The point is, being accurate and truthful about someone's circumstances of death (not making them seem better, and certainly not worse) is one of the biggest services you can do for their memory.
Hashem yinkom domom.

Who cares...the frequent focus over the past few days on such trivia takes away from the tragedy and reflects poorly on the intelligence and basic character of someone who would care; Hamkom Yanchem Culam, Tsadikim or otherwise..

It is left on us all to feel their pain and help shoulder their burden.
He left behind a wife and 3 children we can't imagine what the family is suffering through at this moment, the least we should do to help is take away the burden from them waking up every morning thinking who's gonna put bread on the table and who's going to marry them off we all know what the minimum life expenses cost today
A committee was formed to set up a fund to benefit R' Benzion's wife and children.
