A court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, Joseph Sarachek, says the court on approved a $2.5 million advance from the First Bank Business Capital of St. Louis. The money will allow Agriprocessors Inc. to resume the processing of its inventory of about 750,000 chickens and hens through Jan. 9.
Sarachek says production at the company's plant in Postville, Iowa, could begin this week.
Agriprocessors has been accused of immigration and child-labor violations. First Bank is owed about $34 million by Agriprocessors and has foreclosed on the company, but without the advance the chickens would likely starve.

It would serve the PETA fanatics right if all of the chickens starved due to PETA's instigation of the dubious lawsuits.

How about settling just for chicken for the mean while. Why do you need the constant luxury in life?

By the way, there is no real shortage of meat. The trustee told the judge that there is over 11 Million Dollars (wholesale price) in frozen meet in the Agri Freezers.
This means that we must assume that any apparent or claimed "shortage" is actually a scam to be able to raise prices and the like but no real shortage ever existed nor does it exist now, since 11 Million dollars worth of meet is siting in the Agri Plant freezers and is not being sold, intentionally.
The Judge ordered the trustee to do what he can to get it sold.

Don't get so excited. It's not for sure that the plant is opening B'Chlal.
The Trustee is only going to TRY to see if he can get the workers to agree to work although they will NOT get paid their past due wages and even their future wages will be "premises" to pay but if the business fails, (with the trustee) which is very likely, then the workers will not get paid in the end.
If the workers decide not to go back to work unless they are paid their past due balance, then the Trustee will not be able to open the plant without workers.

I really can not understand why the bank is letting them open.
I did my own survey. I spoke to many haymeshe store owners, heymeshe customers as well as yeshiva yungeliet and pretty much all of them said that they will never touch another Rubashkin product as long as it is still under thier ownership and as long as weissmandel is still the mashgiach!
Who are they gonna sell to? The sefardim realize how they were all fooled major time by rubashkin with all those bais yosef stickers which everyone now knows was a total fraud, even ask the truck drivers.

Just remember - The trustee gets paid UP FRONT, the 'experts' that he hired gets paid, AND the Rubashkins get paid (for their expertise).

I am not a lawyer, but my understanding of the bankruptcy law is that the frozen meat is part of the bankruptcy estate, and thus could not be sold without specific permission from the judge overseeing the reorganization, which has now been granted via his order to the Trustee to get the meat sold.

They were only in bankruptcy for 2 weeks. The 'shortage' happened before Rosh Hashana.
6 containers for Rubashkin arrived in Port Newark. Rubashkin is selling the stuff, COD. Does the trustee know about it? Why can;t the stuff go into the Brooklyn warehouse? Something smell fishy here.
Alle had no product. and when they did, it was raised 50 cents. Now, at the new price, almost everything is available.

Again, unwarranted attacks.
Peta did not close up Rubashkin. The union did not close up Rubashkin. The competition did not close up Rubashkin. The government did not close up Rubashkin.. The left leaning rabbis did not close up Rubashkin.. The anti-semites did not close up Rubashkin.. Rubashkin's greed closed up Rubashkin.
He has $11 million in the freezer? and the Jews and gentiles in Postville are starving? And there is a 'meat' shortage? What gives?

I am amazed at the number of so called experts that have sprung up overnight.
Does anyone know what 11 million in meat last for? Is it enough for 1 week sales or 1 month sale? Will it resolve any shortage? The answer is that it is barely enough for 10 days of product (based on the old sales). Even if it is dumped on the market it will have a momentary relief, and in 2/3 weeks we will be in shortage again.
The shortage is not fake. The demand far supersedes the supply. Alle has so far refused to supply many of the little businesses across the country that bought from Agri.
Agri's primary customer is not the "Heimishe/yeshivishe oilam" that some expert here claimed won't buy from Rubashkin. There are jews all over that went from eating Hebrew National to Agri. The "Heimishe/Yeshivishe" are a small percentage of the jewish population in this country. The fact that you don't realize that fact is worthy for a discussion of its own - but I'll save it for another time. Alle themselves lost a plant to a fire. International (and companies) no longer have the same access to product since their fight with the Star-K.
So yes there is a real shortage, and 11m in product is not that much.
However, the price increase at Alle is not because of the shortage. Its because of a rise in the price of feed, as well as a rise in price of live cattle. Meat prices of treiff has also gone up.
As for PETA, just talking about them creates the sense that they are a legitimate entity, which they are not. This is an entity that called on Ben and Jerry's ice cream to make ice cream out of human milk instead of cow milk. Need I say more.

So you took a survey of your yeshivishe friends, and found that they would rather eat Hebrew National than a Chabad brand. Are there no limits to sinas chinam?
No one, not Weissmandl, not the OU, not even KAJ found any kashrus violations.
Have you been to the plant to see the operations there? Have you found any problems? So why are you throwing around accusations?
Especially now, shouldn't all of Klal Yisroel practise some ahavas yisroel?
