Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg "were taken from us by terrorists with no regard for human life, and we must remain steadfast in support of efforts to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice," the president-elect wrote in a letter sent to Chabad of Illinois director Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz in advance of a Chicago event that was held Wednesday in memory of the Mumbai victims.

"As you mourn and remember those we lost, you should know that so many Americans share your grief and pain," Obama wrote. "May their memories be a blessing."

The Holtzbergs were among six Jewish victims killed last week in the Mumbai Chabad House during a spate of terrorist attacks in the Indian city.

It's ok for Bush to be 6 days late but not ok if Obama is 8 days?

To all you cynics out there, whats your problem? If my memory serves me correctly the families are still sitting shiva. So if someone goes to be menachem oval today, do we yell at him , why do you come now how shameful? Why does there have to be an element of criticism no matter what the man does. People will never be happy. Just appreciate the fact that he wrote a heartfelt letter. Be happy that you are not living in a country where they rejoice t this kind of news. Grow up you cynics

We lost six people in the Chabad house massacre, and for us, every jew is a whole world, and therefore we are all united in our grief.
Obama is the president elect of millions of citizens and I think it was nice of him to write the letter. There are daily murders in America, American soldiers are constantly being killed in battles all over the world, as well as citizens being killed globaly in terrorist attacks. So while our personal loss as a nation is profound, let's keep things in proportion as to how the goyim relate to it.

People can't accept that there is even a slim chance that all the fear that was genarted by the far right might be wrong.

People still think Obama is a Muslim terroist anti Semite and even the next Hitler.

Bush's letter is dated Dec. 1. The bodies were recovered on Shabbos, Nov. 29th. On Dec 1 the kdoshim didn't even have kvurah yet. Today they are a few days into shiva already.

I noticed that too--the really obvious absence of G-d in Obama's letter (hey, Bush even spelled it with a dash!). But first I laughed out loud at his "Office of the Pres-Elect" letterhead. Sheesh.

you must have a very sad life if you have to look for something bad about every situation. bush dec 1 but obama is late on dec 3? maybe he waited until they were buried and the families mourned? why is it automatically bad ? can they ever do something good that you will think is good? why is it automatically great for one and automatically bad for the other? you truly are one of the the biased partisan people that ruin american.

Thank him and be quiet, there is nothing more to say. (you should at least afford him the same courtesy as bush)

I need to give credit to Hillary who said:

"“There could be no sharper a reminder, nor a more poignant call to action, than the brutal and heinous violence visited upon the Nariman House and the Holtzberg family, living and working in Mumbai on a mission of peace, scholarship, and spiritual guidance.

“As those responsible are brought to justice, as we aid and support the victims and their families, as we work to defeat radical extremism and the terror it spawns, let us find strength in knowing that in the face of those who seek to take lives, there are those who seek to give hope and comfort. In the face of those who wish only to destroy, there are individuals like Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and Rivka Holtzberg who travel great distances far from their homes to build a better world.”

WRONG.
He issued a statement on wednesday, he spoke out again more specifically on Friday and then spoke again at his conference on monday. He was even reported in the media as having "lead the international condemnation" of the attacks.
so in a sense, he said more than Bush. google it, its all out there, you dont have to take my word for it. But please, dont lie to people and say untrue things.

Moron, he made at least 3 other statements before this. he spoke twice during the ordeal. if you choose to ignore that it is your problem. but he spoke and spoke out and then spoke again.

get over yourself and stop making trouble where there isnt any.

Of course, the Yid Emmanuel told him not to say or do anything until after the 3rd day of Shiva. Silly me for expecting more prompt response from the future leader of the free world.

And I'm so pleased to see all the positive adjectives & nouns being used to our fellow Jews: "moron" comes to mind. How quickly we forget.

"Grow Up" is obviously respectful, isn't it? When are these insults going to stop? Is this what the victims HY"D lived for? Or don't you people think you have to behave like the rest of us who ARE respectful even when we disagree?

What depresses me the most of everything, now that it's a week later, is that you've all forgotten the few days of achdus & common decency to each other that kept us together. Now everyone's back to insulting. I've said it before & I feel like I'm the only one saying it: How do you expect Moshiach will come? You all beg for Moshiach in davenning but work very hard to stop him from coming.

Golus must be really comfortable for you. Let's see how you feel after 120.
