The item, a large envelop with threats written on the outside, was found by the rabbi at the mail room of the Chabad Learning Center, at 10215 N. Scottsdale Road, and a Scottsdale police bomb-sniffing dog alerted officers to a potential danger, police said.
According to Sgt. Mark Clark, Scottsdale police spokesman, at least three businesses have been evacuated.
U/D:
Mesa police department's bomb squad has determined that the envelope did not contain harmful materials, Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark said. There were no reported injuries.
Police don't yet know how the envelope got into the establishment, Clark said.

"Tracht Gut, Vet Zein Gut" ????
I'm not sure he meant it in these cases. In fact, I am sure he would not.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT"L was not only a holy man, but he was an intelligent and practical man who would not have intended to teach denial of the facts of reality.
We ALL need to start security programs in ALL of our shuls and yeshivas.
I know it is expensive to have a paid security person. It adds at least one or two people to payroll. I also know many shuls can't afford it. But can we afford not to do anything?
Maybe get a team of volunteers to go for firearm training, and get whatever permits are needed, and work in volunteer shifs.
We need to protect EVERY Chabad House worldwide.
We need to protect EVERY shul worldwide.
We need to protect EVERY yeshiva & kollel worldwide.
Being loving, gentle people, does not mean we have to be passive and allow this kind of terror to hit us whenever the bad people wish it.
There are some EXCELENT programs, where we can get training not only in firearm use, but in defensive techniques, proper procedures for maximum LEGAL and SAFE effectiveness.
Sure, we are in golus, and have to understand that, but that does not mean we can't protect ourselves.
At the same time, another point ... I travel much, and have been in many Chabad houses, and am saddened to see that most barely lock their doors. Bochurim from their smicha programs enter and leave the building at will, and only have to turn the knob of a $10 lock on a $80 door when they leave. Many don't bother doing that, because they don't want to lock out other buchurim.
Also not secure are the mikvahs these buchurim use, where they walk in alone, and leave the doors unlocked.... leaving then in a VERY vulnerable condition.
and I have not even mentioned the women's mikvuois.
So, in essence, many Chabad houses are totally wide open to burglars, terrorists, invaders, robbers, thieves, and arsonist.
These bochurim generally are only a small group of kids whose lives are at risk being alone in these places. The PAID or volunteer TRAINED security person should be on hand until the last bochur leaves, and he should lock up with a good secure locking system, with central alarm.
Also, the foolishness of leaving the Sifrai Torah unprotected in a cheap Aron with no fire protection, and no good secure lock, not only leaves these Torahs open to easy theft, or damage, but this lack of security makes a tempting target which could cause danger to those found inside the building at the time of burglary or attack.
In other words, we need to get safes for the Aron.
We need to get good, secure doors and locks.
We need to have TRAINED security people open and lock up, and be present at all times when the doors are open.
I am a Satmar Chussid, and by what I am writing, I am in no way putting Chabad down. I intend this to ALL shuls and yeshivas, Chabad or otherwise. I mention Chabad, because when I am home, I obviously daven in a Satmar Beis Medrash. But when I am on the road, I stop in to daven at Chabad houses. I feel a gratitude to Chabad for placing kosher shuls around the world for all Jews to daven at. But, when I see these wonderful buchurim, I am nervous about their safety. I know they all feel safe and secure in these locations, but I prefer to be safer than have something bad happen to them.
In my travels I notice these faults in many Chabad houses, and also that many are in very vulnerable locations.
Also, most Chabad houses are very low budget operations, and are forced by this to have the cheapest doors, locks and lack of security. This must change.
So, guys, please let's protect the safety of every Yid, especially those in vulnerable locations outside of frum communities.
