The report, paid for at least in part by a grant from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism’s Urban Reporting Program, notes that organized efforts within the Chasidic community have been extremely successful, helping the many who live below the federal poverty line secure one of the highly coveted Section 8 vouchers that give them access to subsidized housing.

The media should also highlight how there are ZERO murders or any other violent crimes amongst Hassidm in Wiiliamsburg.
Self hating Jew Marty Needleman has never ever in his life thought of sticking up for his fellow Jews. His only worries are that Hispanics should get more housing then Hassidim. The fact that Hassidm get ZERO apartments in the projects in williamsburg makes Needleman happy. Even though it became crime ridden still he does not care.
Also, there is a special place in Gihonem for these greedy Hassidic developers who drive up real estate in Willimasburg forcing families to move away or to pay outrageous prices. Shame on them!
Rabbi David Niderman can do far more for the community to bring down the outrages greedy prices.
If you read the full article, it’s actually not a bad article. It articulates how the Hassidim work TOGETHER and look out for each other and that’s why they know of programs and how to sign up for them.
With that being said, I agree with #2 in regards to Shame on the developers who caused a rental crisis in Williamsburg.
Lots of chesed comes out of Williamsburg and plenty of wonderful people. But mentality is ridiculous.
The section 8 is what made the real estate and rent so high, so it’s a good thing that they are looking in to this issue. So many families can’t live or pay bills because all the money they make goes for rent because they are honest and don’t steal
#2 there are plenty of projects in Willy with Hasidim. Marty Needleman is a tzadik and who by wearing a Yamaka makes a Kiddush Has-em everyday dealing with the hard working Latinos in the neighborhood many of whom work for Hasidim. Section 8 should be completely abolished as the article indicates it is the reason why rents are so high, in due time when this country goes bankrupt (very soon) Section 8, Medicaid, food stamps will cease to exist and those that don’t work will suffer.
As my father said “there is a reason for anti semitism”
but i will say, number 1 is right, ain lecha yafeh min hatznius.
so when the outskirts of Williamsburg were dangerous to walk thru even by day the chasidim stayed there. now that it became trendy due to the hipsters, they are expected to move out?
I don’t hear about robberies and shootings in the chasidish housing areas like other section 8 areas.
if hipsters want to pay mega bucks then good for them. if chasidim can find something for a lower rate then G-d Bless!!
