Brooklyn, NY – Dashcam: NYPD Truck Passes Flashing Red Light School Bus In Borough Park

    10

Brooklyn, NY – An NYPD truck driving down the streets of Borough Park this morning crossed more than just the yellow line when it passed a stopped school bus whose red lights were flashing this morning; it violated New York State law that requires all drivers on any roadway to stop for school buses that are loading or discharging passengers.

Dashcam video obtained by VIN News show an NYPD truck loaded with police barriers turning onto 18th Avenue across from Gravesend Park near 56th Street this morning. Half a block later, as the truck headed northeast towards 55th Street, the NYPD truck can be observed slowing down before crossing the double yellow line and passing a school bus with red lights flashing and stop sign extended.

Police said that they had not been made aware of the incident but would look into the matter.

Passing a stopped school bus with flashing red lights is prohibited on all roadways in the State of New York, punishable by hefty fines, possible imprisonment and points on the drivers license.

    Final score:
    1 NYPD truck
    2 cars
    1 beverage delivery truck
0 vehicles approaching bus from the front stopped

    Very disheartening.

In Borough Park, the drivers illegally pass over solid yellow lines, to pass vehicles in front of them. In Flatbush/Midwood, people block fire hydrants, driveways, go through red lights, don’t stop at stop signs, and fail to yield the right of way. People double park, and block other drivers. Frum drivers show no derech eretz and loudly honk their horns at pedestrians who have the right of way, when they are crossing the street. Near Maimonides Hospital, several years ago, an 83 year old Russian, physically assaulted, and broke the nose of a 99 year old survivor of the Holocaust, over a parking spot! Therefore, the incident regarding the school bus doesn’t surprise me; the cops are similar to the community which they represent, pertaining to horrible driving habits.

it’s a group think mentality folks. there are more school buses than people in boro park. people become numb to these vehicles and in turn ignore them. besides, some of the things these buses (illeagaly) do, would make your blood boil..

To:#7- Your rude, and demeaning remark, is typical of the mentality of the reckless drivers, whom I just referred to. You possess the same characteristics as they do, which is a lack of respect, or derech eretz. Perhaps, you engage in the same driving habits, as I described, and you experienced road rage, online!
