Lt. Brian Rice sued State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby and Maj. Sam Cogen of the sheriff’s office for defamation of character, false imprisonment and violation of rights.
In the lawsuit, Rice cited Mosby’s public comments during her May 1 press conference when she announced charges against six officers, including statements about the legality of the knife found on Freddie Gray. The officers maintain the knife was unlawful. Mosby said it was legal.
Rice faces manslaughter and other charges stemming from Gray’s death. Two other officers have filed similar defamation suits in state court.
Rice’s suit was unsealed Monday.
She should be held accountable for her witch hunt. Hope they sue the living daylights out of her.
Look at it from her point of view–by her legal actions she averted further riots with no loss of life—proving that civil discourse and the pen is mightier than the sword–this whole legal deal will cost the city less than had the riots, arson, and destruction continued—who can say that she did not make the correct choice for the benefit of society in a most immediate difficult and dangerous situation?? דמד
The riots were not avoided, the looting and worse continued for quite a while, and sinas chinum and hatred was encouraged by what she did.
