Moshe was a 'melamed' for Kids in Yemen
Arab media said the gunman was identified as Abdul-Aziz Yahya al-Abdi, a former air force pilot. He was arrested in Raydah in the Amran governorate.
Police are still investigating the motive of the crime, but witnesses say the gunman approached al-Nahari and told him "Jew, accept Islam's message" and then shot him five times with an AK-47 assault rifle.
Al-Abdi is alleged to have murdered his wife two years ago but was not jailed because he agreed to pay compensation to the wife's family, said Pan-Arab daily al-Sharq al-Awsat.
Ahmed al-Sarihi, a security official, told the daily that al-Abdi was a religious extremist that suffered from mental problems and that during interrogation he admitted killing al-Nahari and telling police that "these Jews must convert to Islam."
Although Yemen is overwhelmingly Muslim, a small community of 300-400 Jews still live there.
Since 1949 about 50,000 members of the once-thriving Yemeni Jewish community are reported to have been secretly airlifted to Israel.

I think you are partially correct, but not for the awful reason you imply. I do not believe we Yidden care less for the darker skinned fellow Yidden. I have many Tehmani friends, and they are such precious, wonderful people, that no one can know them and not love them.
The problem is that the ones who live today in Yemen have been isolating themselves so much, they they do not have as many personal contacts worldwide. The kedoshim of Mumbai were VERY well known people who had extended networks of family, friends, and associates in many locations, in the US, Eretz Yisroel and other locations. So they received much publicity, and word of mouth. Also, theirs was a dramatic Terrorist activity. The Yemenite Jews who chose to live in Yemen, have cut themselves off in many ways, even from the Yemenite Jews who left Yemen.
This Shabbos, I talked to two of my Yemenite friends about this case. NEITHER of them had even heard of it. Both are very frum people who are kind, loving people. They just do not go online, and had not known of what happened.
Also, since this was not a dramatic terrorist activity, rather an act of murder by an individual, with no helicopters, and on-camera coverage, etc., it will also get little coverage.
So, those are the reasons the responses may be weak. Not a matter of color of skin.
It is inconceivable to me that a Yid would be color prejudiced.

Moshe Nahari was here in monsey for a visit 3 times.
His family have never been here in U.S.

Thank you for your well-thought-out answer and I sincerely hope you are correct. However, you and I both know that the Chabad & Boro Park orphans will be well-compensated by their fellow Jews but the Yemenite orphans will see nary a penny even though both groups were orphaned for the same reason: to the goyim they are Jews.
