This Wed (12/17) from 8:30-10am, clowns will be riding amuck through the streets from the Williamsburg Bridge and following a route South on the new Kent Ave bike lane, and loop thru Williamsburg? Why? To defend their turf!!! It seems a number of people are thinking the new Kent Street bike lanes are there for their own personal double parking needs, and they’re just getting in the way!

Bloomberg calims the city has no money but he spends 30 million to change signs from “triboro bridge to the renaming of RFK bridge”.

The cost of making all these white lines for the bicycle lanes were 125 million thanks to the lovely unions.

bloomberg knows how to waste money. Hiring an additional 200 traffic agents costs the city another 1.2 million a year. Bloomberg is another clown.

in the press release that the bikers sent out- Benjaman Shepard 917-586-7952, it staters that it is for “biker education” drive. to educate bikers how to obey the law.

people should call him and ask him what this is all about, also ask him where he and those people that will be here live, so we can go to thier neighborhood one day with motor bikes.

bet you that most of them don’t live in Williamsburg-Greenpoint area.

on the way, can you guys pick up Mayor Bloomberg with a DIET COKE and drop him off in Jersey?

The bike lanes are not needed. The Chassidim are right. The bike lanes serve a miniscule amount of bikers at the expense and safety of everybody else and the bikers themselves. What next? Horse and buggy lanes?

Idont see the big deal of having bike lanes on bedford ave, white ave, and then make additional lanes on kent and in the process eliminate parking for cars. The bipsycholists have rights, you know?

Its not about how modest u go dressed, its about a neighborhood that doesn’t drive bikes at all. So u can trash the hasidic guys how much u want, it doesn’t take away from the fact that’s UNFAIR to put in a NEIGHBRHOOD that doesn’t use bikes, 4 bike line (whyte, berry, bedford, kent). when there is a huge problem of parking and traffic in the neighborhood. So if the HASIDIC have a problem with it, they r 100% right they have tall bldgs, a lot ppl on 1 block, and there is a major problem to them.
Its not about the modesty, its about parking and traffic ,in a place were there isn’t a handful of people driving bikes, I understand that other people need to have a lane to pass by the hasidcs, but y 4?? Set up a bike detour and make it on 1 of them…….

    The best

HAHAHA, it looks like you have no idea what the issue here is.
    1. It does not have to do with hasids. im not jewish and this bike lane has caused significant damage to me and my family

    2. David Yassky, Diana Reyna, and Marty Markowits are all big supporters of the bike lane, so what happened here ?!?!

No one is against more bike lanes. but the problem is the way they planned and installed it,

in the letter David Yassky sent to the DOT he asks them to sit down with his office and come up with a creative solution that both the bikers and drivers will be happy.
but 2 months have past and there is no answer from the DOT office

So clowns are coming to protest whom? what? who organized it? why?
get your facts and then arrange a protest

Bicyclist, not resembling a moose , will be as safe as the pedestrians they encounter on there daily law breaking meanderings through these city streets. Issue tickets to peddling law breakers as well as require that all adult bicyclist have registrations, licenses and insurance for there bicycles. Share the city streets and share the cost of maintaining these streets. Drivers add more than six hundred and fifty million dollars, in tickets alone, to this city’s coffers. Every commercial vehicle pays a two hundred dollar tax, annually, for the privilege of operating in this city. Every car pays an eighteen percent tax on their parking fees to be able to park in this city. Parking meters generate more than sixty million dollars in revenue for the city. Can someone tell me how much the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, Verrazano Bridge, Queens Midtown Tunnel and the Triboro Bridge tolls add to the city’s coffers? Can someone out there tell me how much money, out of town motorist, spend in this city? What on this God green earth, do bicyclist contribute to this city? Zip, zero, none, nothing and nada! When a bicyclist with no health insurance, injures themselves (no car involved) where do they end up? Oh yes, silly me, in a city hospital! Who pays for that? Why are people trying to turn this city into something it’s not? Cities have cars, pollution, muggers, junkies, noise, bars and rats. If you don’t want those things, MOVE! Move to Maine. Move to Colorado. Move to Kansas! Take your bikes and find a nice place to live. Please, just go!

dont give the clown protestors encouragement!! If you must go out to watch, then at least BOO THEM. But dont make a chillul hashem so that the media will have a picnic with the chasidim. It might make great news for them and the backfire is not worth it.

No bikes are needed, no hippies from the midwest stay after their trust fund runs out, and we are the only ones who actually own anything in the neighborhood. Let them go on the BQE with the bikes.

All kidding aside, the Supreme Court of the land is replete with decisions that focus on community standards as the basis for decisions. Regardless of what others think of the health values of bicycling, the Hasidic community in Williamsburg should have the right to decide what their communal life will be like. While the city establishes traffic laws, they, as well all other city agencies, are charged with being in tune with community needs. For anyone to suggest that the Hasidic community should have no say in this, is patently wrong. Of the people, by the people and for the people…democracy belongs to everyone, including Hasidim.
