Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki made the announcement on behalf of Mahmoud Abbas at Monday’s opening of the Arab League summit in the Mauritanian capital of Nouakchott.
Malki said the suit would be filed in an international court. He didn’t elaborate.
The Balfour Declaration laid the vision for the future state of Israel and sparked waves of Jewish migration to the British mandate in Palestine. Israel declared its independence in 1948 after the mandate expired and won a subsequent war against its Arab adversaries.
Malki said the declaration was a “fateful promise from the ones who don’t own to the ones who don’t deserve.”
Good. Go for it. Under international law extant at the time and then further supported by San Remo, this shouldn’t be a problem.
(As long as we can find unbiased International Judges)
Really now?
Considering that some very hostile, anti-Israeli rhetoric has emanated from British politicians and academia, you would think that the Palestinians consider the Brits friends. But this declaration shows the world their folly in supporting the Palestinian barbarian ingrates. Also nice to see how the Palestimians bite the hand that feeds it.
Exactly what do you mean by this “West Bank” nonsense? From 1517 through 1917, the area referred to by some as the ‘West Bank’ was under Ottoman rule as part of the provinces of Syria’.
From 1948-1967 Transjordan seized & occupied much of Judea and Samaria, i.e. the area west of the Jordan River, & annexed it in 1950 naming it ‘West Bank’ or ‘Cisjordan’ – a translation of the Arabic term ad-Diffah I-Garbiyyah. (‘East Bank’ or ‘Transjordan’ designated the area east of the river).
Incidentally, at the time, the Arab League themselves actually regarded the annexation as illegal & void. It was ONLY recognized by the United Kingdom, Iraq & Pakistan
Jordan ruled over the ‘West Bank’ from 1948 >1967 ie a mere 19 years & all residents were granted automatic Jordanian citizenship.
So, as Israel recaptured the area 49 years ago, why are you STILL referring to it by the false name given to it by the ‘Jordanians’ – incidentally, a nation state made up by the British – & not the correct name, Judea and Samaria?
Why misname a key part of Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel, when it eradicates thousands of years of Jewish existence in Yehuda vShomron, & is unnecessarily divisive?
Good luck.
Crackpot. Go sue Britain over a statement made by one official almost 100 years ago. This is just another attempt to perpetuate the myth that the Palestinians are refugees. They could have had a state in 1947 and rejected it. They’re still rejecting it. Dummies.
Narishkeit.
Maybe he should have spent a little more time reading History!! Jewish and Arab (Jordanian) etc. It might have helped him.
He is giving validation to the declaration, as he is showing it has meaning.
He is starting to show signs of dementia.
Just shows that land is not the issue with the Palestinians but rendering the middle east Judenrein is. I hope the world finally wakes up.
