The July 1 attack killed Miki Mark, a 48-year-old father of 10 children, and wounded his wife and two teenage children. The military subsequently sent hundreds of troops to the area of the attack to search for the perpetrators in what was the largest operation in the territory in two years. Israel also vowed to take unprecedented steps to capture the killers.

On Wednesday, the military said that after almost a month of pursuing the perpetrators, troops closed in on the Hamas cell behind the ambush. It said troops surrounded a house near the West Bank city of Hebron where the group was hiding and called on them to surrender.

One Palestinian, believed to be the shooter who killed Mark, was killed in the pre-dawn shootout. Weapons were found on his body, the military said, adding that three others were arrested, including one who belonged to the official Palestinian security forces.

Since mid-September, Palestinians have carried out dozens of stabbings, shootings and attacks using cars against civilians and security forces, killing 34 Israelis and two visiting Americans.

During the same period, about 200 Palestinians have been killed, mainly by Israeli forces or in some cases, armed civilians. Most of the Palestinians have been identified by Israel as attackers while the rest were killed in clashes with Israeli forces.

Israel says the violence is fueled by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement, compounded on social media sites that glorify attacks. Palestinians say it stems from frustration at nearly five decades of Israeli rule in territory they claim for a state.

This line is getting boring, and it is no valid now than it ever was. The commission of acts of terror is a mission of hate and savagery, launched by Arafat y”sh decades ago, and still continuing today. It has achieved some acceptance in the world of “liberal” and “progressive” minds, such as those who dominate the Democratic party, since the message is one of “victimization”. However, there is nary a shred of truth to this – a matter that has no place in the Muslim world where the bloodthirsty passion attributed to Islam is never minimized because of dishonesty. Until we recognize that these are predators, animals, and savages, we will continue the course of inviting them to negotiate, and make concessions to these poor victims. We would all be better off if they were eliminated.

Exactly what do you mean by this “West Bank” nonsense? From 1517 through 1917 the area referred to by some as the ‘West Bank’ was under Ottoman rule as part of the provinces of Syria’.
From 1948-1967 Transjordan seized & occupied much of Judea & Samaria, i.e. the area west of the Jordan River, & annexed it in 1950 naming it ‘West Bank’ or ‘Cisjordan’ – a translation of the Arabic term ad-Diffah I-Garbiyyah. (‘East Bank’ or ‘Transjordan’ designated the area east of the river).
Incidentally, at the time, the Arab League themselves actually regarded the annexation as illegal & void. It was ONLY recognized by the United Kingdom, Iraq & Pakistan
Jordan ruled over the ‘West Bank’ from 1948 until 1967 ie a mere 19 years & all residents were granted automatic Jordanian citizenship.
So, as Israel recaptured the area 49 years ago, why are you STILL referring to it by the false name given to it by the ‘Jordanians’ – incidentally, a nation state made up by the British – & not the correct name, Judea and Samaria?
Why misname a key part of Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel, when it not only eradicates thousands of years of Jewish existence in Yehuda vShomron, but is A LIE.
