Brooklyn, NY – Lawyer Asks AG Mukasey To Intervene In Mondrowitz Case

Mondrowitz in Israel CourtBrooklyn, NY – Michael Lesher, an attorney who has pursued the Mondrowitz case for more than ten years, and who now represents six men who are among the hundreds of Mondrowitz’s alleged victims, has written to Attorney General Michael Mukasey to inform him of the critical posture of the case. The Justice Department, headed by Mukasey, is actively seeking Mondrowitz’s extradition, which was ordered by Israel in November 2007 but which Mondrowitz appealed to Israel’s Supreme Court.

Lesher, who says he has never been paid for any of his work on this case, wrote to inform Mukasey that the arguments Mondrowitz presented to a panel of the Supreme Court on December 8 — which seemed to be favorably received by at least one of the three judges — were clearly contrary to the law and the facts of the case, in Lesher’s opinion. His letter cites legal precedents and a previously unpublished document which allegedly disproves Mondrowitz’s claim that the current extradition request is untimely.

Lesher expresses particular concern about the idea discussed at the December 8 hearing of trying Mondrowitz in Israel instead of Brooklyn, where all of the crimes for which he was indicted were allegedly committed. Based on documents he has obtained over ten years of research and FOIA appeals, Lesher argues that having Mondrowitz tried thousands of miles away from his alleged victims “would likely result in a grossly inadequate sentence, which would hardly serve the interests of justice — or of the victims.” He notes that Mondrowitz was indicted for thirteen counts of first-degree sodomy and first-degree child abuse, among other charges.

The Attorney General has not responded to the letter. The only American politician that has made any comment about the Mondrowitz case, is Brooklyn Asmblyman Dov Hikind who released the following press release:

“I am deeply disappointed by the recent reports that Rabbi Avrohom Mondrowitz may not be extradited from Israel to the United States to stand trial for his heinous and criminal actions. This development is a great set-back in the war on sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community.

The Supreme Court of Israel should reconsider their decision to give state prosecutors additional time to determine if Mondrowitz can instead be tried in Israel, where he will surely face a lesser sentence.

“I urge the Israeli authorities to cooperate with Brooklyn DA Charles Hynes to set the proceedings back on course to ensure that this pedophile will finally be brought to justice. After 25 years, the Mondrowitz victims deserve no less.” said Hikind.

If this guy is so innocent, why did he flee to israel and why is he afraid to come to the US to clear his name? Obviously, where there is smoke, there is fire…

I am a frum victim of Mondrowitz. This rosho has commited unspeakable horrors on chidren and teenagers of both Italian and Jewish origin. His frum victims range from those refered to him by Ohel and others for psychological treatment and those who came into his grasp by being neighbors in Boro Park or in the Catskills. He also went after family relations and family friends. Practicaly no child who came into his home, school or office was safe from his devious behavior. His trademark was to instill such embarassment in his victims so that they would never betray him. He typicaly would insist the kiss him and say they love him more then a parent so that they should feel as if they, the little minors, were complicit in the crime created against them. If u think such an evil man should not be sent back to the US after even one hundred years then you might be as dirty as he is.

How is it he can live in Israel and Not molest kids. Did he just give it up ( which everything I read says that these monsters can’t stop) all these years and he didn’t mess with one kid there and get locked up. Another question- how can he function in Israeli society-you would think he can’t work, get housing, go to shul, who would even say hello to him on the street, is it possible he is Not known there, or not known as a bad guy. Why hasn’t one of the victims put out a contract on him, is he in hiding, or have body guards???

I’m pleased to see this post. Maybe readers would like some contact information in case they have comments for public officials involved in this case:

Brooklyn D.A.’s office, sex crimes unit head: [email protected] and Orthodox community liaison: [email protected].

U.S. State Department, the public communication division phone: 202-647-6575. The main switchboard is 202-647-4000.

Israel’s Ministry of Justice, public inquiries fax: 011-972-2-646-6357.

Israel’s High Court, Public Affairs Department. Phone is 011-972-2-675-9612 and 011-972-2-675-9613. I believe their email address is: [email protected] and the fax number is 011-972-2-651-3191. Bear in mind it’s not proper to try to influence judges, but people can certainly express their interest in the case and in continuing to follow it.

What difference does it make Where he sits in jail?
I just think there will less Chilul Shem Shomayim if this case doesn’t come the the U.S.
He deserves to rot in jail. If it can be done in E.Y. so let it be.

To any Mondrowitz family member: Do the right thing and insist that the pederast in your family returns to NY for trial. You should be awake 24 hours trying to help in some small way all the victims this rapist destroyed. If you do not, the name Mondrowitz will go down in history as worse than Hitler. Hitler was a goy, and we understand eisav sonei es yaakov. But the pervert allegedly and disgracefully had a yiddish mamma, making him, at least genetically, a yid. He had no excuse. The name Mondrowitz will be synonymous with genocide and all that is evil. We will all pray that Hussein, Bin Laden, Himmler, Mengele, all suffer in Hell, but that Mondrowitz suffers worse. And we will also daven that any of his filthy issue know nothing but misery.

The main reason that Avrum Mondrowitz (whose smicha is as bogus as his Psychology degree) has not been extradited is because the same man who brought disgrace Chilul Hashem and machlokes to the chareidim of Yerushalayim has used his influence as an MK to prevent Modrowitz’s extradition.
Mr. Lesher should also be writing letters to the Gerrer Rebbe and MK Litzman to stop protecting Mondrowitz and let the American courts decide if he is innocent or guilty

To all you bloggers that are so quick to condemn Mondrowitz for the “sins” that you are 100% sure that he committed (after all, you heard all about yourself during davening or k’rias haTorah) – beware that the Ribono Shel Olam will be “dan” you the same way – on hearsay (that is very clear in all the Sifrei Kodesh).
Watch yourself. You are playing with fire!!
Lesher and Hikind at least have an agenda, but what right do you have to be “dan dinei nefoshos”????

he should pay for his crimes if he is in deed found guilty, but the torah still doesnt allow that a jew be given over to the hands of non jews, therefore, his crimes dont allow you to do against the torah

    consult your rabbi first

We as a community need to say loudly and clearly that this man must be brought to justice in the same place where he committed the heinous crimes. Any one who molests children should be brought to justice. We have to stop sweeping these cases under the rug. We could stop many more children from being hurt.

It is a mitzva and a chiyuv to publicize that the rapist animal is guilty and demand his trial so he can be brought to justice. Period. Anything less and you are oiver on aiding and abetting a pedophile.

The name Mondrowitz is already synonymous with Mengele, Hitler, Stalin etc… in the annals of history he is the only Jew among this group but he is a modern day Haman. Like Sadaam, he should be publicly hung.

And if you are a farfumpte yid who thinks you should be dan lkaf zchus, please sterilize yourself so you can not have children and perpetuate your idiocy. Mondrowitz is a goy gommur, and it is a mitzva to hate him, write his name on your shoes he is amalek. His wife and children who helped harbor and shelter him are as guilty as if they held the boys down while Mondrowtz sodomized them.

No. 18: You are an anti-Semitic dog. May you choke.

But even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while, and even a stopped clock is right twice a day. There is a grain of truth in what the obviously Jew-hating rosho #18 says — likely, Mondrowitz the Monster WOULD get only a lesser sentence in Israel because of the political pull of the Gerrers, who by protecting him are just as evil as he is. And Numbers 10, 12, 19 and 20, you are all FOOLS, and people like you play right into the hands of anti-Semites like No. 18 and make a great big Chillul Hashem by doing so. Our Holy Torah was the first criminal code in the world to deal out proper punishment for evil perverts — the other nations of the world at the time all appeased lewdness and perversion and did nothing to stop it. Look at the examples of Sodom, as well as the pagans of ancient Greece and Rome, who openly engaged in many disgusting practices and were punished by G-d with the eventual loss of their empires. Both the Christian world’s official prohibitions against lewdness and immorality and the Muslims’ are derived from their original source, our Torah. So it is an abomination to protect such a mamzer as Mondrowitz (or any other such reshiim, like Kolko, et al) by piously hiding behind excuses like not wanting to be a “moser” and hand a “fellow Yid” to the “non-Jewish authorities” or by invoking “dan l’kaf zechus” or saying that the accusations are just “loshen hara”. R’ Eliashev and other prominent rabbis have already ruled that a pervert has the din of a rodef and may — nay, MUST– be handed over to the authorities for punishment.

Mr. Lesher and Dov Hikind, When is the last time you pickup up your finger to try and have Yonoson Pollard freed from prison. You are so worried about the worlds problems, why not help Pollard. Admit it guys, you have a blind hatred (shaul of monsey : compare him to hitler y”ms : you are no better) of Avraham Mondrowitz, a person who has lived his last twenty five years with a sterling charachter and clean. Get a life guys.
