Moshe Tzvi Ledereuch and Yosef Yitzchak Rothman of Brooklyn were found this morning, slightly dehydrated but otherwise unharmed.
The pair were part of a 200 person group from Camp Karlin Stolin in Highland, New York that went hiking in Bear Mountain State Park on Thursday according to The Journal News.
The missing 16 year olds were part of a six man group that got lost but while four of the boys made their way to Seven Lakes Drive where they were rescued, Ledereuch and Rothman spent their night in the woods with just one water bottle each. Search teams scoured the park last night, with volunteers from the Jewish community returning this morning to aid in the hunt for the missing teens.
Police using all terrain vehicles and patrol cars scoured peripheral roads while three fifteen-person search crews used GPS tracking devices and drones to search the parks trails, which all told, cover 235 miles.
Ultimately, it was a humble cell phone borrowed from an unidentified hiker that led rescuers to the boys. Police were able to ping the phone to ascertain its location and the boys were found shortly thereafter in the area near Perkins Tower.
Morris Jacobowitz, a member of Chaverim of Rockland said that community members were relieved when the boys were found.
“They’re healthy, they’re okay,” said Jacobowitz. “It’s every parent’s nightmare in not having their 15 year old, missing in the dark.”

Hodu La’Hashem Ki Tov!!! May we continue to hear and share only good news!!!
There was some info and pics on the local LoHUD news. First – these guys were in no way prepared, wearing street clothes no extra water etc. The cell phone belonged to a hiker who lent them his to help out. Try to be even a little bit prepared – Harriman is a big park although here it sounds like they got lost pretty close to the lodge.
Mi Kiamcha Yisroel???
In the future these kids need to be monitored more closely like the goyish camps do. They need to follow all signs.
