Nassau County police said Monday the boy was inside a Neiman Marcus store in the Roosevelt Mall in Garden City on Sunday and was hanging onto the outside portion of an escalator’s railing as it was moving upward. When he reached the top floor, police say he fell about 30 feet and struck his 33-year-old mother, who injured her foot.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the boy is listed in serious condition with a head injury.
A spokeswoman for Neiman Marcus says the company is reviewing the incident to see if any additional safety measures are needed for the store.
I’ve seen children hang on to the outside of the escalator rubber belt and drop to the ground after they rise up in the air foot or so. A simple barrier could prevent this problem.
the additional measure is that parents need to watch their children. something is wrong with this new generation. they don’t watch their children and then blame everyone else for everything .

No one saw the kid doing that before he fell?
Undisciplined, wild; all the safety factors in the world won’t protect people who act more like animals & less like humans`.
When you have a family of ten or more Kinder it’s impossible to watch each one.
I think this is a frum child – I was asked to say Tehillim for a young boy who fell off a cliff. Sounds too similar, sometimes the actual details get confused in the game of telephone. Anyway, please say Tehillim for Yehoshua ben Alte Chaya Deborah. Whether this child is the one in this accident or not, he is in need of a refuah.
did anyone say it was a family with a lot of children? I did not see that part. I see children in the park near my home that climb to the top of the poles holding the swings in place. if they fall from there whose fault is that? no one should be up on that part of the swings.
As per Darwins theory of survival of the fittest, this all makes sense. Something missing there.
