Brooklyn, NY – Herskovic Defense Team Embarrassed in Court as Prosecution Destroys Credibility of Expert Witness

Brooklyn, NY – Dramatic moments unfolded today in Brooklyn Supreme Court as an expert witness for the defense in the trail of Mayer Herskovic was ripped to shreds by the prosecution.

As previously reported on VIN News(http://bit.ly/2caZ1Kw), attorney Israel Fried who is representing Mayer Herskovic in connection with the beating of a black man in Williamsburg in 2013, had planned to show that DNA evidence that connected his client with the victim was hardly conclusive because of the minute size of the sample found.

But prosecutor Timothy Gough successfully questioned the credibility of Arthur Young, the forensic evidence who had been called to testify for the defense, showing that Young had been fired from several jobs.

Young admitted under questioning that he had occasionally been found unqualified to testify as an expert witness in court, contradicting testimony he had given just moments earlier.

Gough also found various inconsistencies on both Young’s resume and his website and used the opportunity to have Young disqualified as an expert witness.

A visibly annoyed Judge Danny Chun who is presiding over the non-jury trial dismissed Young and admonished Fried over his choice of expert witness.

“He has no masters, he has been denied expert status before,” said Judge Chun. “The bulk of his work seems to be in the past and the most troubling thing is that he has not updated his website.”

Chun gave Fried a 24 hour window to locate a qualified DNA expert.

Fried and Young were seen exchanging words outside the courtroom, with the defense attorney appearing to be angry. Fried refused to discuss today’s proceedings, saying only “it’s not devastating.”
