Jerusalem - Paz Group, Israel's largest fuel company, has begun selling cooking gas fuel at two of its gas stations alongside diesel and regular gasoline. The first gas station is located in the south, and soon another gas station will be located in the north.

Paz is joining Dor-Alon, which has for several years provided cooking gas fuel at ten of its gas stations and dozens of other points in the country.

Israel has 46 stations that provide cooking gas as fuel for cars. Most of the points are run by Pazgas, Supergas and Amisragas. Pazgas has four such points which it runs under a subsidiary name. This is the first time that Pazgas decided to market cooking gas on the ground of its gas stations together with diesel and gasoline.

Approximately 10,000 cars in Israel run on cooking gas, a number double that of the Transportation Ministry. The total amount of cooking gas used by cars in Israel annually reaches 10,000 tons.

Vehicles using cooking gas for fuel are still considered a niche market, but that number is expected to rise exponentially if the government makes it economically worthwhile. The Knesset is talking of passing a Green Taxation Law which gives tax breaks for imported cars which run on cooking gas.

This is natural gas, which we in the US have a lot of - not just what comes out of Washington. Israel also found a lot of natural gas off their coastline. The US has a lot of natural gas offshore and in various interior locations, including decaying material in garbage dumps. Alaska was supposed to set up a pipeline to run from there, through Canada and end in the Midwest. We'll see if the evironmentalist leftist will let us drill for more gas here.

Most, if not all, of the taxis in cities like Las Vegas run on natural gas. Many other cities have their buses, garbage trucks, etc. running on this. It's clean and plentiful. There are storage hazzard risks and not enough fueling stations, but that can be done. Even though I did not vote for BHO, this would be an infrastructure prject I would support. It can accytually create sustainable jobs and break us off of foreign oil.

you can convert your car to run on the stuff for cheap actually. only problem is the ugly cansiters need to be strapped to the top of the car or use all of your cargo space.
