Mayor Michael Bloomberg says his transportation department is on a pothole-filling blitz. Extreme winter weather makes potholes occur more frequently.

In the last five weeks, city crews have filled more than 20,000 potholes on the city’s 6,000 miles of streets.

And the city is repairing holes in a green-friendly way. The transportation department recycles old pavement into a new asphalt product that is reused to fill potholes.

It’s about time he took care of potholes; there are potholes everywhere even on the highways. If your car is just a little low on the highway, all of a sudden bang! you hit a pothole and smash the cars belly onto the asphalt floor.

20,000 potholes filled? I guess they must’ve missed quite a few since I hit a big one yesterday…

If the city has 20,000 unfixed, that is a financial liability because any person can go through the motions to call 311 and report a pothole and then if within a short time later, if it’s not fixed, he can make a lawsuit against the city and collect a million dollars, he if can (legitimately) claim he sustained a major injury to himself walking or if his vehicle was damaged from the pothole.

If the city hits us with Tickets, we need to fight back and hit these Ganovim (writing undeserved summonses = a license to steal money from you) so hit them back, where it hurts them most, right back in their pocket.

It goes without saying that you should do so, only if you have a real and legitimate claim.

Better to organize shuls to ask everyone to take a minute to report the same single pothole to 311 unitl it gets fixed, then move on to the next one. The nudnick gets the asphalt…
