The cheese company used the equipment as collateral on roughly $500,000 in loans from the city that it defaulted on.
City offiicals have said the equipment includes processing tanks, boilers, holding silos, a cheese processor, and water cooling and treatment systems.
Judge David Demarest made the ruling in a four page decision, saying the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is allowed to seize the equipment if the company refuses to comply.
The city took over ownership of the building and property housing the Kosher cheese operation last summer after the company failed to pay its property taxes.
The city had filed the civil suit in September after St. Lawrence Food defaulted on the half million dollar loan.

Unfortunately that's what happens when you put something up as collateral and can't make the loan payments.

Unbeknownst to most of you, this is a real loss for those of us who were careful to buy AHAVA products, which were the only ones that guaranteed to use milk only from cows that were not injected with Bovine Growth Hormone to increase milk production.
No Injected Hormone also means No Antibiotics in the feed to cope with the sickness caused by the injection.
So, now we will be left with no choice in dairy products.
Enjoy your cancer-causing g
growth Hormones and your Immunity-Destroying Antibiotics.

If there were more people like you, they wouldn't need to go bust. They are in default because they can't afford their bills.

Today the temperature was 20 degrees, this means that Kosher prices are going to go up again. Tomorrow it's going to rain, Kosher prices are going to go up again. The economy is terrible, Kosher prices are going to go up again.
There's no excuse too convenient for the raising of kosher prices. You really think basic things (i.e. cheese) are so hard for the heimishe hekhsharim to make that they cost more than twice the amount as the non-kosher? Even the specialty treif like organic wouldn't dare gouge it's consumers like they do.

Do you know anything about Kashrus and its costs?

This is just anti-semitism!
It is the unions!
It is a plot to abolish the shechita of dairy products!
It is PETA who want the cow's milk drained only by baby cows! The cow's milk should be used for baby cows only, not to make cheese for people!
How dare they do something like make a company pay its bills? Anti-Semtism I tell you.
(Disclaimer for those who are humor challenged: This is intended as humor only. It is not intended to offend anyone, not even the cows.)

This is a free country and if you think the markup on kosher cheese is overpriced by 100% you can go right ahead and make your own Kosher cheese today and sell it at a better price and you will have the entire frum market all for yourself and become a millionaire overnight!
Go for it!

Deepthinker,
You should change your moniker to Fearmonger.
There are antibiotics in feed to cope with all the sickness brought on by feeding grain to an animal meant to eat greass. Antibiotics has little to nothing to do with BVH.
If you want milk with the possibility of no antibiotics go look for milk from grass-fed animals. I wonder how much that will cost.
Incidentally, evidence was never presented that BVH in any way affected the safety of human consumption of milk products; it was banned by certain companies as a consumer relations stunt. People are fine with breeding cows to acquire the genetic traits they want but injecting something to reach the same result... that's not 'natural' and scared people. To the degree that you therefore need to use more cows to produce the same amount of milk, it raises the price of dairy.

The plant was owned by Ahave but used by many different hashgochos including satmar. The plant and production stays the same but the mashgiach and labels change by shift.

You clearly don't understand what is going on here. The whole thing was cooked up by Ahava and the city, to cheat the banks. The city created this "debt" and then put itself in front of the banks to seize the whole factory, so that it could keep it open and operating. The city will run the factory and nothing will change; it'll still be under the same hashgochos as before. The banks are the ones who lose out, because they have nothing left to seize for the money they are owed.
