New York, NY – The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today voiced concern about a tweet from President-Elect Donald Trump that posed the question, “Are we living in Nazi Germany?” in response to news coverage over intelligence agency revelations on alleged Russian government intervention in the 2016 election.

Jonathan A. Greenblatt, ADL CEO, issued the following statement:
The President-Elect’s use of Nazi Germany to make a political analogy is not only an inappropriate comparison on the merits, but it also coarsens our discourse and diminishes the horror of the Holocaust.
There are legitimate questions on all sides regarding foreign influence in the 2016 presidential race. But the United States has democratic elections, a free press, rule of law and a civil service — including our intelligence agencies — that is deeply loyal to the U.S. Constitution. These facts invalidate any analogies between America and totalitarian societies.
ADL always has maintained that glib comparisons to Nazi Germany are offensive and a trivialization of the Holocaust. We have a long record of speaking out when both Democrats and Republicans engage in such overheated rhetoric. It would be helpful for the President-Elect to explain his intentions or apologize for the remark.
The Anti-Defamation League, founded in 1913, is the world’s leading organization fighting anti-Semitism through programs and services that counteract hatred, prejudice and bigotry.
The word ‘Nazi’ is a very charged word.
However we have seen the extremism of the ‘liberal left’. Anyone who disagreed with them was marginalized and considered an idiot and not worthy of consideration. This WAS the beginnings of the Nazi rule.
Read a bit of history of how the Nazi’s took control over Germany and you will realize that they too marginalized those who thought different than Hitler y’mach shmo.
This was an action that was used by the so-called ‘liberal left’ against Trump.
I will continue to pray for the quick demise of the ADL, an organization that has no shaychis to Hashem or his Torah.
Yup, comparing well founded accusations of political impropriety to the systematic murder of six million Jews and plunging the world into a World War seems perfectly reasonable.
Decent people of all races and religions should be offended and concerned.
You know what else is inappropriate? Allowing others on Twitter to compare Donald Trump and his team to nazis!
The ADL’s excitement to denounce any person or organ that they feel entered their personal domain named ‘combating anti-semitism’.
Excluding their “concern” over Trump’s comment; (heir curious enthusiasm to dub politicians as Anti-semite, looks to me as an overt attempt to give their organization a legit look. Because if they don’t deem anti-semite, there is no purpose of ADL.
Teir approach is ridiculous from any point of view. If you cry wolf, they create wolves out of people.
